The tyranny of Mr. Lincoln is unjustifiable. Attempting to enforce control over the states is outside the bounds of the constitution and would shame the founders of this nation. We, the states, have unalienable rights, and the government can not impose it's will upon us at it's leisure. Slavery is only the first step. How long until we are bowing before King Lincoln I? We must draw the line here and now, no tyranny, no restraint, no limit must be placed on the powers of the States. My superior Governor Houston may be too kind and trusting to believe that abolition is upon us, but I can see the threat here to our livelyhood, one that will grow and chain us into servitude, before the new aristocracy. No more, I say. We will defend our rights, even if it means war.

Lieutenant Governor Edward Clark of Texas

Gentlemen, long has the time of Yankee hegemony grown dry on my tongue. They demand our cotton, on now they demand our slaves too. My time in the national political stage has been a frivolous one, I would rather eat fire then talk to one of these northern-bastard dogs again. Now is the time for reckoning, the people are demanding equality of the states! Who am I too deny them? This country was founded on a confederacy of thirteen colonies, bound together against the empires of the world. Did we back down then? Did we forget our morals, so long ago? And oh, long have the northerners thought themselves invincible! Their woe shall come, when their arrogance is brought back to them. They speak as if we're all american, if we're all one people, however I am Mississippian to the Core. My ancestors are buried upon her hillsides. I am, and have been and ever expect to be within her borders. Whatever may happen, I am with her Heart and Soul.

John J. Pettus, Governor of Mississippi

Illinois stands ready to answer the call to defend the Union. We will send our required quota of men requested by the President gladly to serve the cause of the Union. America shall stay American, and we will fight if needed to defend the union if there is secession.

Men of the Congress and fellow gentlemen,

In these hard times, hard decisions must be made. It is in sadness and disappointment I write this statement to my fellow New Mexicans. We have seen in the past years how our northern brothers have abandoned the ground principals that our grandfathers lay when making the constitution. They have used a rhetoric full of hate and anger towards us. We have shared the land and dangers with it, and the rewards are for us all not just for the politicians in the north. The promised land belongs to us all and therefore as the governor of the New Mexico Territory I will in case of a military conflict with the help from God aid our brothers in the south and together rise arms against the thief's and corruptible leaders. I will not seek war. To the contrary, I will do everything in my power to avoid conflict. But I will not forget my duty and my conscience if I were to do nothing in spite of the realization that a conflict will become unavoidable.

You can take our lives but can't take our freedom!

Governor of New Mexico Territory, Abraham Rencher

Note: I will make a mini tonight regarding the Montgomery convention and Confederate actions (Not as in attacking other states or anything just the fallout from leaving the Union) so please send orders Confederate States.

In order to keep the union in tact as we know it I ask the govenors of each state to send volunteers to meet a quota of 75,000 men within the next few months to ensure the continued stability of the south.

-Abraham Lincoln

Dear Mr. President

While it is true many states in the Southern half of the American nation now considers seceding your call to gather seventy five thousand troops will only escalate the precarious situation, I fear. Dixie only wishes relative autonomy granted by Constitution and its Amendments but most of all preservation of our way of life, something we know the North has often looked down upon. Concepts such as nullification, as offered by Thomas Jefferson and later repurposed by John C. Calhoun, held this confrontation at bay in 1828. I mention this so all who read this letter can be reminded that even then the Federal Government's exertion of power over the States, and while those southern states [namely South Carolina] waited patiently for tariffs to be reduced their four years of requested repeals were denied, and tariffs increased. President Jackson's attempts to deescalate the conflict after South Carolina nullified the taxes by calling upon soldiers failed, if not for Henry Clay's intervention Northern and Southern boys would have killed each other already. As you are aware there are similarities but unlike then nullification or any other legal attempts will not cease hostilities any more than you 'volunteers'.

Respectively

The State of Missouri is appalled at this sudden abandonment of peaceful negotiation manifested by a call for troops before hostilities have become inevitable. Because of this, Missouri must rethink its position in the coming conflict that has now been made unavoidable by the Federal Government's actions.

-Gov. Jackson of Missouri

On behalf of Massachussetts, I, Nathaniel Prentice Banks, Governor of the great state, hereby put our support behind our democratically elected official, Abraham Lincoln, and guarantee that he shall have our full support.

With a possible war on the horizon, the Springfield Armory shall increase production of munitions and will increase the numbers of our militia, should it be necessary to intervene.

With South Carolina's decision in mind, Arkansas shall be holding a vote to determine our future in the Union. This is a contentious issue in Arkansas, and democracy must be respected, but no matter the outcome, it must be said that the recent coercion by the Federal Government unacceptable. I am sure that this demand of troops will certainly hang heavily in the minds of our legislature during their vote.

After the secession of South Carolina from the Union other Southern states decide that it will be their best interests to side with South Carolina. On on January 9, 1861 the state of Mississippi declared its secession from the Union with only three days later the state of Alabama declaring it’s secession. Only 2 days after Alabamas secession and some deliberation Florida also declared its secession with Texas the same day along with the Territory of New Mexico which has some resulting division but not enough to cause serious problems. With Finally after some long deliberation Missouri declares its secession which causes immediate fallout within the state. While in the capital St.Louis the decision is relatively well received the rural areas and northern part of the state is a battleground. The government of Missouri meanwhile sends troops to the Mississippi river and Ohio river merging in order to secure the area and fortify it. This foray results in meeting with Unionist radicals who managed to deal some damage but not very considerable damage with the result of getting there and building some basic entrenchments.
(Above states leave the Union, -50 regulars and -100 militia to Missouri. Missourian entrenchments at the merging on Mississippi and Ohio river)

On the East Coast however there is a much different story developing, after hearing about the secession of Missouri there are riots in Baltimore who wish to leave from the Union. In response President Lincoln sends a regiment there to put down the riots and calm the situation. However the troops became attacked by civilians armed with either old rifles or just rocks and are forced out of the city unprepared for the situation that had occurred. There is a similar story in Delaware but it is much more low key and Union troops manage to put out what rioting there was. Meanwhile in Arkansas a month later after the initial states secessions along with Louisiana and decide to also leave the Union and to take Federal property for the state. Most of the Federal troops stationed in Arkansas know they could easily call up 22,000 men surrender their weapons and equipment, while the rest escape to the Northern states. (-30 regulars to Massachusetts, Baltimore under Confederate sympathizers, Arkansas controls the armories in its state, Louisiana leaves the Union)

With no real government all of the states decide to form a government amongst themselves at Montgomery, Alabama. A constitution is drafted and all the states are admitted to the Confederate States of America with Jefferson Davis as temporary president. Meanwhile the same day in March New Mexico experiences some Indian raids which terrorize the outlands of the state. Lacking the capability to do anything about it right now the people of New Mexico decide to secure their small towns and wait until Confederate or New Mexican troops arrive. While most Southern states leave the Union Georgia, North Carolina, and Virginia are still undecided along with most of Maryland. (Confederate States of America formed, President Jefferson Davis appointed, and above states have not decided)

"Fellow-Citizens, in the name of your rights and liberties, which I believe have been trampled upon, I refuse to take this oath. In the name of the nationality of Texas, which has been betrayed by the Convention, I refuse to take this oath. In the name of the Constitution of Texas, I refuse to take this oath. In the name of my own conscience and manhood, which this Convention would degrade by dragging me before it, to pander to the malice of my enemies, I refuse to take this oath. I deny the power of this Convention to speak for Texas; I protest against all the acts and doings of this convention and I declare them null and void.

Let me tell you what is coming. After the sacrifice of countless millions of treasure and hundreds of thousands of lives, you may win Southern independence if God be not against you, but I doubt it. I tell you that, while I believe with you in the doctrine of states rights, the North is determined to preserve this Union. They are not a fiery, impulsive people as you are, for they live in colder climates. But when they begin to move in a given direction, they move with the steady momentum and perseverance of a mighty avalanche; and what I fear is, they will overwhelm the South."

An address by Ex-Governor Sam Houston regarding his refusal to take an Pledge of Allegiance to the new Confederate States of America.

With Ex-Governor Houston unable to fufill the wishes of the people, he has been removed from office, and I will now take over as acting Governor of our proud state of Texas.
Long Live Texas! Long Live the Confederacy!

Statement released to foreign governments by United States State Department regarding the rebellion in the southern states, and the formation of the Confederate States of America

As your ambassadors have no doubt informed you, several of our southern states have declared secession and formed a new nation. The formation of this "Confederate States of America" is in fact illegal. This situation is little more than an illegal armed insurrection against the lawful United States Government. We would like to ask all of you treat this as such, and follow international law. Per international law, trade with this rebellion is illegal, and so is armed support. We would also emphasize this is not an independent state to be recognized, and please do not do so.

Thank you,
William H. Seward
Secretary of state

The Secretary of State claims that our sessesion is illegal, and that we are rebels. This cannot be more false. This separation was carried out by officials chosen by the people, and it represents the will of the people of the south. Because our rule is established by the will of the majority in our lands, it is right! There comes a time where 2 nations come to a point were separation is vital to the well-being of both nations. This is what happened when we split ties with the British Empire. Our time as a colony was finished, the relationship was deemed unnecessary. Our 2 countries have grown apart, and we have become radically different in all ways. We are no longer 1 united nation, but our changes over the decades have made sessesion the only option for us. In a democracy like ours, an important action such as the natural spliting of a nation should be able to come about peacefully. However, the north refuses to let us go. If they had us leave in peace, we would go in peace. Instead, the north wants to impose their image of society apon us. They have risen troops, and declared our legal confederation to be merely a bunch of outlaws! They refuse to accept the natural path of nations. So now, war has come apon us, and we will have to back right with might.

Hurrah for Dixie! Hurrah, hurrah for Dixie!
-Governor Jackson of Missouri
Confederate States of America

Our brothers in the south have chosen the false path, their false freedom shall be a demise of the "Confederacy". Losing the Union's power to mere rebels is the ultimate humiliation, one thing we Yankee men don't stand for. The states have gone through much hardships, why should we end our odyssey here? Our country, our home, is at risk to being crippled forever. On the other hand, we can charge down there and straighten this little mess those rebels have created. As your commander, I can speak for you. Never will we New Yorkers let our nation be soiled by the cause of a mislead group of individuals.

Excelsior, men! "Join for freedom, victory for freedom".

-William Farquhar Barry, New Yorker Officer

Southerners! Missourians! Don't you here the words of the Yankees? They only want to help themselves! They don't want to admit the time has come for separation! They only want to crush us! They only want to save face! They are in denial of the natural path of history! They wouldn't have needed to save face if the had not tried to oppress us, to deprive us of our right to determine our own path! They speak of having a moral high ground, when the real reason the fight is for their own benefit!

Hurrah for Dixie!

The Union has proven that it is a government of disorder and tyranny. If our basic liberties cannot be protected, then something must be wrong. The President has proven himself to be a despicable despot, on the same page of the Ancient Greek dictators. So, who is the true Greek here? Who will follow the liberty and freedom of our forefathers?
The grand state of Dixie!
