You should wait for Victoria 3 which will eventually come. That will feature WW1.

Only if it has move=attack. Since having move=attack in Vicky would, in the view of certain fanbois, make baby Jesus cry, it won't have WW1.

What do you mean by move=attack?

Basically the combat system used in HOI games since HOI2 - when you chose to move into a province occupied by enemy forces, combat starts immediately, rather than when you arrive (i.e., the situation in CK2, EUIV etc.)

but doesn't that kind of make sense since the provinces in HoI games (especially HoI3) are much smaller than the other games.

In which case are you talking about something that can simulate WW1? Not really, right? But anyway, Vicky 2 has about as many provinces as HOI2 had, so this is hardly a show-stopper for move=attack.

I don't think they'd do a WW1 game when they are working on a WW2 game right now. There might be a WW1 DLC for either HoI 4 or Vicky 3 (why, of course there will be Vicky 3), but let's not be too optimistic.

Why would there be a WW1 DLC for HoI4 when the time period is already covered in the Victoria series. And there likely won't be a WW1 DLC for Victoria 3 either as WW1 is supposed to be covered by the base game. They could of course improve it like they did with a house divided expansion where they improved the american civil war.

The time period is not really covered in Vicky games up until now. Sure, the clock can tick through the years 1914-18, but you won't see anything in-game that looks even a little bit like a world-war with modern weapons. Even the devs have said as much - Vicky can't really do a 1914-18 type war because it lacks the mechanisc necessary to model this properly.

No-one can say whether Vicky 3 will be able to properly model WW1, but to even have a chance of doing so it would have to have move=attack and an entirely different trade system to Vicky 2 - do you think this is likely? This is why I'd like to see WW1 covered in a separate game or a HOI DLC.
