Iconic Metropolitan Locations Available in expansion with New Structures and Campaign

STOCKHOLM — March 11, 2014 —
Paradox Interactive today released the “European Cities” expansion package for Cities in Motion 2, the transit-simulation strategy game from Colossal Order. Available on PC, Mac, and Linux computers, the latest Cities in Motion 2 addition allows players to take on the challenges of managing transit networks across three bustling European cities inspired by Liverpool, Düsseldorf, and Prague. Including an entirely new campaign with six scenarios, adding six to ten hours of gameplay, European Cities is available for purchase today for $12.99.

European Cities
invites Cities in Motion 2 players to handle the needs of a few of Europe’s most unique locations. Transit planning in Liverpool will need to include plenty of water-based transportation for the abundant coastline and waterways, while Düsseldorf’s high-profile business districts will need to exist in harmony with the river that meanders across it. Prague, meanwhile, is the largest map of the three, and is internationally renowned for having one of the busiest public transportation systems in the world. The new expansion will allow streetcar strategists and train tacticians to assume responsibility for their greatest challenges yet.

In Cities in Motion 2, players must design, maintain and expand a multifaceted transit network that serves the needs of a growing city. Fleets of vehicles, including buses, trains, ferries and subways, must be assembled and set in motion on player-created tracks and routes, providing affordable and efficient transit between growing residential and commercial centers. As players engineer their systems, the city will grow dynamically around them, keeping players on their toes with increased population, congestion, and budgetary concerns.

Although I'd love to enchange my gameplay with this DLC I think this is the first DLC I'll skip. 13€ for a new building set (and 3 new scenarios) looks a bit much compared to other DLCs which most are at 5€.

3 new cities and 6 scenarios are well worth the prize in my eyes.

I think, the Price for the European dlc is ok...:)
CO People don´t work for nothing.

Can anyone that bought it answer a few questions please?

1) Can you have both the old (American style) and the DLC buildings and objects on a map?
2) Is it possible to change the style of an already built map so that it uses the European buildings and objects?

Well, I bought it on Steam and it seems to be OK as far as it goes. Still no railway stations...

But I feel cheated. THe European buildings can only appear under one of two conditions: (1) In a map designed by Paradox (such as the extremely limited Prague and Dusseldorf imitations), or (2) in a city designed from zero in Map Editor. I don't have the patience to do the latter, not when I can download a good background pattern using Sebastian Straub's wonderful maps4cim. But the latter will only create maps with the default graphic set - obviously, since no other sets existed when it was written.

Why the graphic set cannot be changed even in maps with not a single building in them is beyond me. Can't game designers think a little bit ahead when they invent a game? Can't they provide for the possibility of different building and vehicle sets in existing games?

Oh well, maybe Sebastian, from the goodness of his heart, will add a graphic set option to maps4cim.

Your are so right.

In the german forum mediziner seems to have already been able to change the set for a empty map. So lets hope the issue can be solved,

I am hoping for an update to maps4cim too as I want to make a map with the euro buildings but don't want to start from scratch. The three maps included with the DLC are ok, but there are some better maps from modders. To be honest the maps look like they just drew some roads and generated buildings, there seem to be very few manually placed objects. There are quite a few oddly placed buildings and some of the roads (Liverpool in particular) are placed so closely together in places that no buildings can generate along them, so you end up with a big area of odd looking pointless roads. Plus some of the road layouts are plain stupid, there are places where massive detours are required due to bad access ramp placement or strange road placement.

Overall still happy with the DLC though, it means I can build the map of Brighton I've been wanting to do for a while, I just need maps4cim to be updated to work with the euro buildings now.

It would be really appreciated to have a third option: American and European style. If not possible, at least the option to change the style of maps already started. I made a map that has no buildings, only highways design and very complex intersections. I would like to put european buildings on it, but I would need to redo the entire highway design and that is hours of work.

Really disappointing things to hear. Also, my Rathaus from the first scenario was demolished due to automated city growth... Kind of a fail. Ruined the entire campaign for me... And I was really looking forward to playing this today!
