Rajahs of India is being released this week, and if you are on Steam, your game will be auto-updated. If you want to continue to play Lux Invicta while the Regency Council works to get LI working with the new patch, you'll need to backup your game folder before Wednesday.

To do this, navigate to your Steam common folder (normally Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common on 64 bit systems, or Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\common on 32 bit systems), select the Crusader Kings II folder within it, and copy it (CTRL-C or right click->copy) then navigate where you want to save it and paste it (CTRL-V or right-click->paste).

well, technically, the RoI update will only go through steam anyway since the GG version has been discontinued (and owners given licence keys for the steam versions)

that said, an alternative method is to
1) right-click the library entry of Crusader Kings II, and click properties
2) go to the updates tab
3) select Do not automatically update this game under the Automatic Updates

there have always been reports that this doesn't seem to work properly at some times though, so you might want to still/instead make a backup as richvh suggested.
any immediate updates we release are likely going to be pre-RoI for the time being (a proper RoI update that also incorporates our own Eastern Expansion might take a bit of a while)

They've said users will be able to downgrade to 2.0.4 via Steam's beta functionality, so making a backup shouldn't really be necessary.

oh, right. there's this too. I forgot about it.
still, it'd be a bother redownloading it, so if you have the disk space to go around with it, a backup saves the time :p

Have they given out steam keys for GG users yet? It will be mildly disappointing if on patch day I have to re-download the game + DLC through steam before I can try it out.

Also, with the knowledge that game design almost always takes a lot longer than expected, when do you hope to have a RoI-compatible version ready for release?

I decided to take a short break from CK2 until the mod is up-to-date with RoI. After all, Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls comes out Tuesday, as well ;)

As soon as I get my hands on RoI (which should fairly be a couple of hours after it releases) I'll start on adapting the RoI content to LI and updating all our event files. I don't know how much that will take, specially since spring season is beginning at job and I have extended shifts to do, but the optimistic date would be in 1/2 weeks after RoIs release, plus the time we need to bugfix and polish whatever we add.

Oh ok, cool. I think Riknap was saying the timing of the DLC wasn't ideal for him... I was preparing myself for 2-5 weeks!

I know they said they made a lot of tweaks to existing events. They also added all the triggers so that Indian characters don't get the European events. While you're in the files, I'm sure you'll notice other stuff that was left by the wayside, too; take your time! I'm certain it will be worth the wait.

the timing is the worst for me (perfectly coincides with my finals week, not to mention hunting for an internship location), but I'm not the only one in the LI council. In fact, the majority of the direct work the past month or so has been DarkReborn's, and recently with richvh's timely assistance, with futuregary working on the Eastern Expansion.

that said, I'm sure we could probably conscript Darkgamma's help again on this matter xD

Yeah, that's what I do best

@Kakafika - The cd key for the GG version works as a ownership confirmation for Steam - you should also be able to use any DLC you already have, because it works for both versions. You can probably ask Paradox tech support, and they'll walk you through it.

Oh ok, I didn't realize they had already set it up for that. I just went to GG and added all my DLC to Steam, thanks. I thought I would get an email or another forum announcement when it became available; didn't think to just check my GG :eek:o

Short answer: Nope. We're using a different map entirely (right now it looks mostly like the old CK map). Also, Futuregary is going to be putting in a large expansion to the east eventually that will add the ROI region, but slightly larger overall (Tarim Basin will have provinces, I think.... not sure though). So in short our map is going to be rather different from ROI's map.

The differences between the current LI map and the old (pre-TOG) vanilla map are:
1 extra county added (Visby on Gotland)
Several sea zones added in the Arabian littoral.
Connection made between Red Sea and Mediterranean
I think the lower Elbe was widened to provide sea zone access to Bremen

There might have been some other minor changes done in my absence involving TOG changes. I don't know what futuregary's plans for eastern expansion are.

Is it really necessary? I mean, redrawing the map entails extra workload and can cause other problems with compatibility.

To be honest, it isn't, and we could easily adapt to RoI's map with some adjustments, but we are already too deep into making our own map (I'm talking about the eastern expansion here, not te actual LI map) to throw away Futuregary's work.

Is the descendants of Hanno culture afrophoenician or phoenician?

Initially they were Afro-Phoenicians (that's a broad sense though... for all we know, they could have been a cultural mix of Libyan and Phoenician settlers), but it seems that Futuregary decided that finally we'll settle for just Phoenicians (or rather, I'd say they're more Punic than Phoenician). If you mean in in the files, yes, they're "phoenician".

Are you guys going to be adding in the new religious stuff from RoI like religious branches and patron deities? They seem like they could work well for a lot of religions in LI.
