I'm looking forward to HOI IV don't get me wrong but I'd be more interested in a cold war game. I'm more of an empire builder than a warmonger I guess.

WWI to 1991: Short twentieth century, an HoI game with more breadth.
Marty McFly, stop the spoilers! They will announce one tomorrow.
Well I hope that a future project will be a cold war game.
So what we know so far: project Augustus is not a sequel of any current series. It is not a cold war game. That leaves either futuristic grand strategy in space or if it's a historic game then either dark ages game or maybe we get a surprise with a WW1 game. I just doubt that it will be another genre than historical setting as Runemaster is already one such title and two out of three is highly unlikely.
Cold War era game would be quite boring IMO. Just 2 superpowers, no decisive wars, because of MAD and the difficult to simulate service economy.
Wait, are you saying there were no wars between 1946 and 1991? Nevermind that a Cold War sim would probably focus on espionage and intrigue rather than fist-in-face fights like the other Clautzwitz games, there are plenty of decisive wars to play through. Just the Americans have a laundry list of wars - Korea, Vietnamn, craploads of conflicts in South America... the Russians also have their own fair share, plus plenty of military crackdowns to keep themselves occupied.Cold War era game would be quite boring IMO. Before the cancellation of EvW I would have told you that there will soon be a cold war game that will be really good and the best cold war game out there (which is not too difficult with the only competition being supreme ruler cold war). It is not probable that HoI4 will get a cold war DLC because the times were just so different, a cold war game needs mechanics which are not needed in WW2, the same is true the opposite way as well. But it is highly probable that Paradox will use ideas from HoI4 if they were to make a cold war game in the future which I think will happen just not yet, probably before 2020.aside from the steaming crap that is Supreme Ruler Cold War... is there any note cold war era grand strategy game?
Is there any plan to use HOI4 improvements (and build upon them) to make a respectable cold war era game in the future... instead of basically having to deal with a sub std product.
Yes! A new grand strategy finally! That leaves....."Easter Bunny Egg Laying Simulator EXTREME"
So far i would not hope to have a cold war DLC for HoI IV, because so far HoI IV seems super simplified streamlined for new gamers who have not attended history classes. While WW2 maybe works on that kind of engine, Cold War game would not. Cold War requires very complex game, complex diplomacy etc. etc. One does not simply make Cold War game simple.I'd really like to see a HoI IV DLC that expands into the cold war ( It of course has to add quite a bunch of things ).
But EvW was by all accounts done. Its just that the game "didnt meet a certain criteria". This mysterious criteria is what killed it. So if its physically not possible to make a cold war game as some say, what was wrong with EvW?
Forget they were late, mis management or anything else. The game was done, they even out a date out for it so it was 99% complete. So it must be possible.
Yeah, it really was possible. Come on, we didn´t even get a reason for the cancellation of EvW...
