Total War Rome 5: The Puppy-Kittteh Invansion (Why 5 and not 3 and 4, because Paradox made the game so intense that they cancelled 3 and 4 after buying the rights to the series from CA)

I'd love to see a steampunk game

Yeah I do believe that they are developing a Space Grand Strategy game. There were just too many hints at that, and they explicitly stated that they wanted to do a 4X space grand strategy. But God, I really wish it was Vicky 3.... after buying and playing Vicky 2 I almost feel like I am wasting time playing 'good o'l EUIV' because Vicky 2 is superior in every single way. Wouldn't mind seeing Rome 2 either, I love the era, and I've heard about the interesting EU3-CK2 crossover the first game was going for.

In any case, I think they are developing a Space Grand Strategy game, after that most likely Vicky 3(plox) and then CK3 (or even CK3 before vicky 3, because PDS hates the Vicky 2 fans  any/all +10 militancy +10 consciousness)

My prediction for their upcoming games. Although I am not sure which of the two games (Rome 2 or Cold War) will be released sooner, but I have a feeling that they make Rome 2 before Cold War.
1. Space grand strategy
2. Victoria 3
3. Rome 2
4. Cold War grand strategy

Hopefully Victoria 3 is not too distant. It is the only PDS game I really, REALLY want.

Other than that, I have no idea. It depends somewhat on the impact their "new" DLC model will have on the development cycle as a whole. How long will they continue with updates for each game? When will CK3 come along? I can easily see their current generation of games being in a position to justify a longer life span, but...

I think they're going to do some experiments, fill in time periods that haven't been done yet. Like another Ancient World game, but they won't call it Rome II, because it'll be the whole "Old World" and start in like 500 BC. Or a game starting from the fall of Rome and going to 1066 or so. Or a Cold War to the future game (like 1962-2100) in a Victoria style - if nobody else can do it, PDS will have to do it themselves. Then in a couple years, CKIII.

If they wont release vicky 3 any time soon my militancy will go through the roof. Im sure there will be alot of jacobin rebels paradox will have to deal with.

I think that PDS experience with HOI and Victoria definitely puts them in the realm of developing a very strategic Space strategy game.

Imagine Star wars, but combining elements of Victoria and HOI4, you have to setup industries on planets and they have to gear up production like HOI4. Transport ships between planets need to be protected and can be raided, allowing starvation of planets and the military/population on it. You need to build fighters, bombers, landing ships for planet assault, Interplanetary ship carriers and battleships. You have to research Weapons, Shields, and Fuel for those ships, and the ships have a certain fuel storage that they could possibly run out in the middle of space.

You could throw research into developing Stargate wormhole technology and building them in orbit of your most valuable planets allowing instantaneous transport between 2 planets, and reduce the demand for convoys. Or you could throw research into developing planetary terraforming to allow planets to produce more resources that they need themselves.

Add in victoria 2 population mechanics, and different aliens species have different demands for types of goods. Humans need lots of water and protein, while aliens from Alpha Centari might need lots of methane and calcium. You could develop different policies for all of the different species under your realm. Maybe you don't want a particular species spreading to all of your planets and want humans to be the primary race, so you setup immigration controls to not allow certain species on your core planets and only the outer worlds.

The possibilities with a space game are endless because there is no limits. You can add in any crazy research or ideas you want because nothing to compare it to, it's not like HOI or Victoria where it's based on history. No research necessary!

Fingers crossed for space grand strat. Would be an instant buy from me (assuming it lived up to PI's usual quality)

Though I wonder if it'd license a preexisting franchise, or if they'd risk a whole new IP.
From historic reference, I think licensing the big IP's is usually done for a whole series of games, across multiple genres (presumably to mitigate risk & spread what is undoubtedly a huge cost)

Maybe one of the smaller tv/film space sci-fi franchises? Stargate? Firefly? BSG? Farscape? Babylon 5? 40k? Dune?

For a grand strat, I know which of those excites me most :D

Still hoping for a grand strategy fantasy game with a creative, rich (not high fantasy) atmosphere, like the Dominions series, and that actually plays very differently from their other games, but still feels immersing and "real" :) . Lots of licensed stuff out there, but I'd be hoping for something new to discover, and exploring myths from all over the world sounds very Paradox-y, considering they are after all, masters at making historical games.

As for what they will produce, I'm guessing Crusader Kings III. Though I suppose that one is pretty obvious given CKII's success :p .

BlueStreak: as a long-time SW fan, my pet peeve with Star Wars games is always that they have primarily only the Rebels and Imperials as factions, and start them off on equal footing. This isn't how SW was, and it doesn't make for immersive games, and it wastes and opportunity for some creative gameplay. The Imps should be a massive empire and the Rebels a tiny faction doing their best to stay hidden, launch sneak attacks, and gradually build up strength and work with other factions to form, well, a rebel alliance. Then there should be all kinds of other worlds and factions, all with different motivations, quarrels, tech levels and whatnot; and all at different strengths, so that you'd have everything from huge "superpowers" to tiny factions.

In other words... a Paradox approach. So now that you say so, yes, I would love to see a Paradox-created Star Wars universe ;) .

I'm not so sure PDS are doing a Space 4x, but I DO know that Chris King is developing one. Not sure I'm allowed to link to it, but go and google Crispon Games. :)
