Preference: No. Total specualtion : Yes. By alternate history I just ment that I anticipate a wargame in the timeperiod of 1945-1990.

Magyar: Rome2 not my preference since I would love VIC3 more. I believe that Rome 2 will be before Victoria because a new CK-stylish game is long overdue. CK2 is/was a big hit, something similarish soon would make economic sense.

And WW1 is gathering more and more speed as interesting setting in the games industry (Commander: The great war, To end all wars, Valiant hearts, Verdun)

But to put all this specualtion to it's context: PDS has clearly stated that they make games that they want to make/have good ideas on/inspire them. So it could really be anything. Like Runemaster, which was total surprise. Fantasy I could have quessed, but Fantasy-Not-Grand-Strategy...
It is a smart way to introduce other people into the grand strategy games. Paradox is looking for ways to expand and bringing in many new customers through Runemaster is a smart move. However they will have to be careful and make sure that it is a great game otherwise it will have a negative impact on those new customers and the chance of them picking up a grand strategy game will be very low.

What I want to see next is:

1. HoI 4 (Q1.2015)
2. Vic 3 (maybe Q4.2015)
3. Rome 2 [or something like it, with 753 BC to 476 AC] (maybe Q2.2016)
4. The Cold War [or something like it, with 1947 to 1991 or 1949 to 1994] (maybe Q4.2016)
5. "The Future Unknown" [or something like it, 2233 to 2525 (?)] (maybe Q1.2017)

And it would be the best with converters, to do:

Rome2-to-CK2
CK2-to-EU4
EU4-to-Vic3
Vic3-to-HoI4
Hoi4-to-TCW

This will be the only games that I ever need! (At least for the next few years... :p )

Greets! ;)

Expecting Rome 2 to cover a that long period is borderline delusional.
We need a game about Alexander, a game about the rise of rome, a game about Pax Romana and the collapse of the empire and a game about post fall of Rome to Charlemagne.
So four more games.
Also solves the problem of a timeskip of a few hundred years between your Rome 2 and CK2.
Your time plan for new games is very aggresive and there is pretty much no way they could make the games that fast and support them with DLC.

I know, that this isn't possible, it was more a "wishful thinking", than a realistic projection... :p

But to think they will make 4 new games, within this time line, isn't really more realistic.

Not going to happen. Paradox will not create four Rome games, and let's not forget that Crusader Kings 2 is going to span 684 years as of tomorrow. A Rome game could easily last from 264BC, the date that the Etruscans were finally defeated, and that the First Punic War began. Naturally, a game lasting until the traditional fall of the Western Empire would run until (initially) 476AD. That's 740 years, which is only 56 more than are present in Crusader Kings 2. Pax Romana, the Collapse of the empire and the migration period would have to be represented by major expansion packs for a Rome 2 which initially focuses on the Roman Republic. There could also be an Alexander expansion.

It's far more efficient for Paradox to have a "big four" set of games which they rotate between and continually make bigger, better and more fully featured. The big four naturally goes: Rome - Crusader Kings - Europa Universalis - Victoria, with Hearts of Iron having the potential to grow into a Cold War simulator (I mean, in most imported games, there won't necessarily even *be* a World War 2, which puts HoI with its limited scope on the same level as March of the Eagles at present).

I mean let's not forget that Paradox need to update existing titles every few years so they remain fresh.

Personally the 480-around 800 game is most important for me.

I think they will try a space grand strategy in the next 5 years, along with reiterations of their franchises.

Alpha Centauri turned into Grand Strategy. That would be so cool.

Since they made EU: Rome on the previous Clauswitz engine, for the current one they should make CK: Rome. Then for the next two subsequent engines, they should make HoI: Rome and then V: Rome.

I would very much like to see the following:

1)A Dark Ages game.
2)Rome II
3)Victoria III
4)Fantasy 4x
5)Scifi 4x

I'd also add 6) Sci-Fan and 7) A Classical Ages game to your list.

CK Rome and HoI Rome would be terrible.

I don't know. With all the internal intrigue going on in the Roman Empire, I can see a CK-version.

V: Rome and HoI: Rome would be extremly weird. The Scramble for the Barabarians anyone?

Would be fun to have Carthage winning the Punic Wars, though. Or to research pilums before the Romans do.

HoI:The Punic Wars: worldwars before the whole world had knowledge of itself!

CK2 or EU4 tech really would, more seriously, fit to Rome, I think.

This. And perhaps a Peloponnesian War DLC should do it.
