Thanks, I'll email them to you in a day or two. I converted over a English one too and it did the same thing no culture. The log said:

Well I did a fresh re-install of my EUIII and of the Converter and it seems to work now for the British one!

Is the converter supposed to be compatible with CK2Plus at the moment? I can't seem to get it work with it, works fine with vanilla and some minor mods.

Edit: Converter crashes at this part (from the log):

14-02-23 20:24:06: Setting up provinces.
14-02-23 20:24:06: Converting provinces.
14-02-23 20:24:07: Total historical base tax is 2717.000000.

Grumble now it crashes after the 1st month :(

Hmmm, are you able to save a converted game at all? Often the end of month thing is from autosaving not working.

I haven't tried CK2Plus in awhile. I'll have to take a look at it some time later. Maybe a bad province mapping?

I have a save game that I'm curious about. I started off as the Magyars, migrated south, and eventually only owned land in Africa. I used the Customization DLC to rename the kingdom of Africa, the Kingdom of Carthage. Since I'm Tengri, and have a customized title, will this add problems to the conversion? Also if it makes a difference, the Slavic Faith reformed and manage to capture some sizable land.

I don't think it should cause any problems, though I never tested with it.

Would it be difficult to make the converter dump the complete error message to the log file in addition to to the screen? When the converter fails due to a broken configuration.txt, I get three types of feedback:

The frontend catches this from reading the StandardOutput from the converter itself:

Code:
Error: Could not open configuration.txt

All I get in log.txt is

Code:
Reading configuration file.

Not too helpful. :)

However, when I run the converter from the command line, I get all this, which actually explains what the real problem is:

Code:
D:\Code\Sourceforge\ParadoxConverters\Frontend\ParadoxConverters.Frontend\ParadoxConverters.Frontend\bin\Debug\ck2toeu3>CK2ToEU3.exe
Reading configuration file.
Error: Cannot find leaf CK2ModPath in object

I will spend some more time trying to catch the real error message from the converter process - I think it should be possible. However, it would probably be convenient for the user to get it in log.txt as well, don't you think?

Been trying to convert a Rajas game without success, this comes up in the logs file;

Code:
14-03-30 21:04:28: Using input file A:\My Docs\Paradox Interactive\Crusader Kings II\CK2ToEU3\Afghanistan1400_01_04converter.ck2.
14-03-30 21:04:29: Getting CK2 data.
14-03-30 21:04:29: Getting building types.
14-03-30 21:04:29: Error: Could not open A:\SteamLibrary\SteamApps\common\Crusader Kings II/common/buildings.txt

edit:
I've been messing around with it more, and I think I managed to fix that problem, but now I'm coming across another one,
Code:
14-03-30 22:35:50: Getting traits
14-03-30 22:35:50: Getting opinion modifiers
14-03-30 22:35:50: Adding dynasties from CK2 Install
14-03-30 22:35:50: Parsing CK2 save.
14-03-30 22:35:50: Importing parsed data.
14-03-30 22:35:50: Error: Unknown version format.

That's the last few lines of the log file, there's tons of stuff like "Multiple definitions of de jure title! c_kotthasara" before that and I can't figure out what's really causing them and the version format error. Anyone have any idea what it might be?

They probably broke a bunch of stuff with Rajas. Unfortunately, I'm spending any development time I have to spare working on EU4 to V2.

Try rolling the game back to the pre-Raj version and then convert. I did that with an Ireland>Albion save and it worked grand.

Hm, doesn't seem to work, I get the same Unknown format error as before. CK2 2.0.4 itself says the save is unsupported and CTDs. Guess I'm just outta luck until whenever Idhrendur can hopefully get around to the eu3 converter.

Are sliders in eu3 converted based on anything?

I poked around in the converter files and couldn't find anything. If they are converted it would be nice to have some "fiddlable" options.

They are, but I forget the details. There are some links to discussions on the second post that might have some details.

But I am no longer doing any development on this converter. So I won't be exposing those settings at all. Sorry.

Cool, I mainly wanted to know if there was any sort of rhyme and reason behind sliders.

You've done a superhuman share for this converter anyway and, for me at least, it works perfectly. My hat goes off to you.

Out of curiosity- how do you go about doing this? My attempts have all lead my game to crash upon trying to access the "Save Game" folder.

Doesn't look like this converter actually works with any saves that have been played with the latest CK2 version (2.2 I believe at the time of writing). The version format crash is just beyond me.
It's actually a real pain trying to get this to work despite the save incompatibility, as it seems the file structure of CK2 has been switched up since the converter was released (had to find the "missing files" which were hidden in sub-folders in the main folder that the converter was looking for them in).
Any attempts at using a save from 2.2 result in either a grayed out map in EU3, or a grayed out map with an unsupported save when attempting to port it back into a previous version of CK2.
I suppose until someone feels like picking this back up, this remains a pipe dream for me and anyone else.

If there's an alternative to this utility that actually works with the latest CK2, or a utility which makes saves from 2.2 compatible with 2.0.4, someone let us know. I've looked around but hit brick walls each time.

Until then, a warning to anyone interested in this, DON'T play with the latest CK2 patch if you plan on converting to EU3. I know this isn't most peoples concerns at this point what with EU4, but for those paupers like me who want to rely on the old stuff, take heed.
If the OP could notify which version of CK2 his converter is designed to operate with in the readme or op, I think that would save a lot of people some unnecessary headaches and wasted time.

I added the following blurb to the OP:
This project is now abandoned, though if any ambitious people want to try to update it, I can direct them appropriately. It was last known to work with saves before RoI.
