Considering Paradox beat them to the punch it doesn't seem like Creative Assembly is being very creative ;)

I suppose yours is a good take on the Conan bit, but theirs seems to be a noticeable rip off (?) of yours by CA, not of Conan, as in they took the Good and Evil to each side of the throne thing.

As someone who never played any game from Total War series and is totally in love with Paradox games, I have to say:

It's fine.

While we like to imagine art as an endless well of ideas, the truth is that when you want to convey a feeling in an art taster, then you are quite limited in what you can do. Especially since it's not an art gallery.

Also, you can still see that while the characters are kinda similar and seem inspired, the Total War art conveys a different feel than the CK2 one.

CA's cover art sucks composition is bad and it barely evokes anything
To elaborate
  1. Creative Assembly:
    • The composition has a strong focus at the characters. While some are more significant to the picture than others, they all seem to bear some sort of significance as people/characters, which is especially highlighted by the sharpness drawing.
    • A character in the spotlight is clearly implied to be a medieval ruler, which implies that this is the time period and a role of the player.
      • He also seems smug, dynamic - makes sense in a game more focused on the action.
      • He carries a sword, suggesting more combat-ey nature.
      • His pose is really badly drawn. I'm sorry. It's literally almost the level of the way that american comic book artists try to draw attractive women. I can't tell anything from this. It's just not what a humban being looks like.
    • People in the back represent other aspects of the game, ergo:
      • To his right are what seems to be the dangers from within. Clearly visible with an obvious dagger, seem to represent that intrigue in the game will be strongly streamlined, clear and mechanicised as an obvious and common danger.
      • Priest to his left implies that religion will have some influence in the game, although not significant. It might be just a flavor.
      • I don't know about the woment. Considering the position and the lighting she seems to be representing something important. Not sure what, though. Will women be significantly important to the game and it's mechanics? Seems dubious it would be a thing in the game, so if anyone knows anything more, then please, share.
  2. Paradawx:
    • The composition is a lot stronger here. The logo seems to crush the character in the middle by the burden of it's weight. The dichotomy signified by colors is clear.
    • The character on the throne is clearly the spotlight of the picture. Everything else is because of him.
      • The other characters' faces are barely visible due to the spiritual and esoteric artstyle or other reasons (a cape), which further signifies focus on a ruler.
    • The sides portray clear function to them: the temptation signified by character with an apple (such a classic!) and another character I can't analyse because the sun reflects too much from my monitor right where he is, and the stability&responsibility on the left signified by the priest and a wife/mother with a child.

So, to sum things up: Paradox 10/10, Conan 10/10, CA 4/10. But I wouldn't call any of these a ripoff. If anything, Paradox' art is more inspired by Conan than CA is inspired by WoL.

I'm not a native english speaker, so some words and sentences might've not maked seance.

the ca version art cover is for a mobile game
frankly i am just happy they din t throw in something stupid like kate uptons tits like in game of war trailer

Just Paradox Please don t ever go into mobile section
well or at least for a long time until it becomes actual worthy of your time
because right now its just horrible

So a king on his throne is a Paradox original?

No, but the perspective and positioning is clearly borrowed. If there had been more time between those pictures, you could call it a coincidence, now you can't.

It doesn't matter if it's borrowed or if it's a coincidence or what. The key value of Art isn't that it wasn't inspired by anything else, ever (or within an arbitrary amount of time). If they've decided that their game is best represented by a guy sitting on a throne surrounded by a bunch of people, so be it - especially if it's only a superficial "ripoff", and the meaning behind it is way, waaay different.

Yeah the CK2 team noticed!

But as always, Conan was first:

Still a Paradox [Entertainment] intellectual property, no? :)

The only thing that I see is paradox shameless use of left-right blue-orange gradient contrast while CA shamelessly do it in foreground/background.
All in all it's a medieval king imagined by a 5yo sitting pensively on a throne and surrounded by 4 random person of its entourage representing medieval diplomacy, commerce, politics and marriage.

Yeah that was a fun day, was kind of surprising to find that. I don't know has any more news about Kingdoms been released? Last time I looked it seemed to have some resemblances with Crusader Kings but with Creative Assemblies own touch on it which I found interesting. I was kind of considering signing up for the Beta because I was genuinely interested in the game but that might have counted as corporate espionage . Think it would come to PC's as well right and not only mobiles?

No comments about Atilla's newly announced Chronicle system? It'll be interesting to see how similar it is to the ones we've had in Paradox games.

Oh really? That's cool, I haven't had a look at Attilla at all. Does anyone know what their Chronicle will entail?

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

It certainly is but I hardly think it is actually imitation. Its a common depiction of a king on a throne I think right? But hey we won't know unless they tell us and that's probably not going to happen.
