Guys,

Are we going to have an option to get rid of that HUGE BLUE Tweeter bird on the top the screen. I know it displays notifications but can we hide it when there is no new notification?

Its annoyingly blocking the view.

Cheers

Center (on x axis) of screen is my preferred focus, as I sit centrally to my screen. So in that center third, the tool bar and options bar come about one quarter up the screen, and the tweets reach down just over a quarter, up to a third on one lot I saw in the video. That leave about half the height of my preferred focal/working area taken. Maybe this would make more sense if I point out I have a wide screen, and I really don't mind if either the extreme left or extreme right is taken up with menus or controls or messages, but I do value the full height in the middle, if I can get it.

anyway, would be better if they just had options to make it tweet only important things, whether the box comes up in the side or middle or top into the work area it makes no difference to me. If it's important i wont mind.

I mean even in hearts of iron where i physically move my head in order to get out of the way of a pop up box in the middle of the screen, i don't mind because i have set it only for important notifications.

if the bird sits up there and says important things only, i don't mind. if its on the side saying unimportant things i will mind just as much as if its on the top.

well, you don't mind. Thats great for you.

The center of the screen is the most highly valued spot on your monitor, just as in the human vision, the immediate center of your field of vision is the most powerfull.

The bird and its messages are really close to the sweetest spot in the game field of view. It would be justifiable if its messages are a urgent matter of life or death, but I dont think that is the case.

I just dont get it why you actively try to downplay any expression of the feeling people get towards the bird excessive and unnecessary obstruction.

I personally hope there's the option to turn it completely off..

I personally do not like Tweety Bird, find the sound very annoying, find his presence annoying.. I also find #s annoying, so pretty much every single thing about Tweety Bird bothers me.

Let's hope there's an option to "Shoot" Tweety Bird.. Where you get a gun site- point it at him, press a button, and he starts flying around, like in Duck Hunter.. and you try and hit him, and if you do.. Blue feathers fly all over the place and slowly settle to the bottom of the screen.. Where Tweety Bird lays quietly, calmly, decomposing, but very much not interrupting the gameplay. :p

like i said the small bird at the top of the screen is not the problem, its the large message box. If there would be an option to only receive important messages from it i think would be better then moving it to the side with the same size boxes and same messages. and no i don't think it's a HUGE problem where i actively move my head to to see round it, has been the point of most of my posts.

you think this is a huge problem that's great. The bird itself i don't mind, and if it says nothing important often just make an option to turn the message off.

I don't get why people try to overplay the size of the bird icon.

I don't see why it is so hard to allow twatter bird to be movable, or even better, deletable.

Again, you think this way and have all the rights to do so. But repeating your apathy wont change the fact the bird is obstructing the view of my beautiful city.

I'm sorry you feel that way about the small bird icon.

If, in the final version, it decides to pop out a box every minute or so then it is no longer a "small icon", instead becoming an annoyingly sized, immovable UI element. As long as it just makes a sound and stays small, I have no issue. If it's going to maximize for every inane thing every one of your million citizens thinks, I'm definitely going to have a problem with it. The SC4 ticker was good because it had it's own non-obstructive space in the UI. You had to click it to get an obstructive box to come up.

A mod will come soon enough to move it to the side. What really saddens me is that some people seem to think the world revolves around them.

again i apologize that the small bird icon is not to your liking. I also pray for a mod that is to your personal taste. that is all that matters in the end.

as i said i would like it if they had options to limit it to just important message's wither its on the side or the top. I would rather have this option then moving it to the side if i had to choose.

also if i were to make the bird on top i would have had a small ticker above it instead of the box for its tweets. But i did not make the bird

Like I said above.. A great way to "Remove" Tweety Bird would be a "Let's hunt" button.. Where it goes Duck-Hunter Mode, he starts flying around and you nail him and feathers fly all over the place and he goes away.

I'm ok with that. Building a city might get boring after while.

You dont need to apologize for that. I even like the icon as I a have a weakness for cute things, unnecessary obstructions on the other hand...

Funny how you try to imply Im the egocentric one.

anyway this is a simple way i would have made how the bird says things. The messages take up about as much area as SC5 did and in the same place. showing messages at the top in this area were never a problem for me in SC5

just a thought. Yeah the small birds still there, what can ya do.

I can't believe that there are now 11 pages of comments on this when none of you have actually played the game. Wait a month; play the game and see how the bird helps or hinders. It's not going to be changed at this point of development.

Having a tweeting bird was probably a slight miscalculation for the devs. I knew this would stir up a storm as the game became more popular. It just doesn't mix with the target audience of city building games at all. We are more retro and often grew up before twitter.

Twitter in itself is a useless format that's hard to read and discern infortmation from.

I doubt even younger gamers like it implemented in a game. It doesn't really add anything, it just garbles the information that the player needs with #hashtags.

I also don't like having the information flow center top screen. It should be in the bottom as it was in earlier Sim City games and in other Paradox published titles. You don't want to take away focus from the city landscape with stuff cluttering the screen.

A bird icon is eye catching and, as has been mentioned plenty of times, it is placed in a prime portion of the screen. If we were talking about a smallish information ticker along the top I highly doubt this thread would exist.

The bird icon is cute and I don't really have a problem with it, but it is way too eye catching to have placed where it is, IMO.

so this thread exists to exaggerate the size of the small bird icon? that is what i thought in the first place.

I do not believe it is the size of the bird, it is the size and place of the text boxes and possibly an option to limit these text boxes

but hey that's my opinion-- id rather them work on an option to limit messages before they make a movable bird, or make a small ticker at the top over the bird.
