I'm dating myself here, but one of my favorite PC games was 1985's Balance of Power by Chris Crawford. I would love to see another Paradox game series that picks up after Hearts of Iron, that is focused on the Cold War and superpower geopolitics in the nuclear age. It would have unique game mechanics dealing with evolving nuclear capabilities (delivery system types, destructive power, CEP, etc), anti-colonial insurgencies, post-colonial civil wars, capitalist/socialist/communist economics, modern military alliances, and propaganda (the Space Race, the Olympics, etc).

I'll suggest a few names:
Iron Curtain
Massive Retaliation
Mutual Assured Destruction
Balance of Terror

Sigh, East VS West was going to be a nice game. Hopefully they'll reboot it some day.

well there's presumably going to eventually be a cold war mod for HOI 4 and there's speculation of an expansion for HOI 4 since there was for HOI 2, but other then that, an incursion into the cold war is doubtful.

PDX will do a standalone Cold War game -- eventually. But, based on the fact PDX has three project currently in the works, I would not expect it until 2020 (assuming the new cold war doesn't kill us).

Game name wise, I would like to suggest: Specter of War

I would love a cold war game that focuses on proxy warfare, using/abusing the UN security council for your own benefit, forging great alliances and extensive diplomatic/trade connections, supporting rebels and regimes, etc. until a possible culmination in nuclear holocaust and large scale invasions.

I would love to see a Cold War game from Paradox, I'm still thinking what would be better.... a Cold War game or Victoria 3, god I hope either of is in development.

Also I don't feel that a Cold War DLC for HoI 4 would do the Cold War justice, unless the expansion was the largest expansion PDX ever created and would be the size comperable to a standalone expansion (it could just be standalone anyway) I feel a Cold War requires quite a bit more than a way to wage war with everything simplified which is certainly what HoI4 aims to be - a WWII game not fitting for Cold War or going beyond its premises. It would need to be a Victoria but with more modern style combat and nukes, spies, propaganda, proxy wars, insurgencies etc.

A Cold war game might not be needed. With all the nifty features in HOI 4 especially with the latest world tension and swaying of governments... Hoi4 Can lead straight into Cold War after the conclusion of WW2. Insurgency, and proxy wars will need to be allowed for sure though.

There will also need to be IGOs though. The UN, NATO and the Warsaw pact cannot be reduced to generic features. This might be covered in a DLC, but it would have to be pretty elaborate to be compelling. I do suspect that this is their intention though, considering that nukes seems to have been incorporated in the main screen UI. That shouldn't be necessary if you only manage to build a few with the most industrous countries.
