Welcome to another development diary about Europa Universalis. Now we are very close to the announcement of the new expansion that we aim to release in June... If Frö smiles upon us....

TAWRQLR.jpg

We have switched around what we will talk about in the development diaries for now, so today we’ll instead talk about Peace!

But first of all, lets talk about a feature that is something that some have requested..

Return Province!
Sometimes you have taken a province that is the core of a rival, or someone who do not want to buy the province, or even talk to you as you are so evil.. Not that we would ever be warmongering-alliance-breaking-world-conquerers..

Now you can just return the province to any state that has it as a core. You will lose some Agressive Expansion and prestige, but it will definitely reduce the chance of them attacking you in the short-term.

Peace Overhaul

This is obviously something that is in the accomanying patch.

First of all, we removed the treaty called annex.

..

.

Well, instead we are now able to target every province an enemy own, so taking all provinces is an annexation.

You will also always be able to demand the capital in a peace treaty, and you also do not need to occupy territory to demand it in peace, however unoccupied territory is more expensive to claim.

Revoking cores will no longer cost diplomatic power.

Diplomatic Power Cost, War Score Costs and Prestige gain for each province now scale with the province’s development, instead of being fixed costs.

Overextension and Agressive Expansion also looks at development instead of base tax.

And finally, you’ll be able to demand gold even while “annexing”.

Wasn't this diary going to talk literally about "subjects and how to interact with them"?
As it was stated in the OP of the thread, the subjects were switched around.

It is harder to annex a whole country, especially a large one back then. You could sign a treaty that says it is all your but for practical reasons, transportation, communication, and logistics were much harder and therefore one wouldn't hold on to such large territories for a long time (especially if they are of a different language/culure/religion). In the 20th century you had trains, trucks, and larger armies, plus you can easily call someone anywhere with a phone to coordinate plans quickly.
But, after I get the treaty, they can revolt.
If this will bring chaos to my empire, so be it.

EU4 countries, top total development in 1444 as of 1.12 (in order): Ming, Timurids, Lithuania, France, Ottomans, England, Mamluks, Castile
Qara Qoyunlu, Aragon, Hungary, Vijayanagar, Poland, Uzbeks, Muscovy, Austria Jaunpur, Bahmanis, Delhi, Venice.
Ming starts with 1000+ dev
Note that this does not count subjects, if it did Burgundy and Bohemia would place.

I think that with a full annexation (in other words taking all provinces), you should be able to automatically get the whole treasury and the ships (mothball status).

Doesn't Austria already have Maria Theresa?
No. The only loading screen women are Isabella (Spain), Elizabeth (Great Britain) and Catherine the Great (Russia).

Is there the option of declaring a war to force release a colony?
Although the colony did not want

Force portugal release Brasil, Or convert Brasil To spanish colony by the force

It would be interesting

Charles, you had to wait, but finally you are recognized by this game.
The Emperor.

Probably on the top three of the most important european character of the game timeframe, probably also of the world in general.

Weren't you the one who asked for people to do that? I wonder what communities you join that people doing what you want qualifies as bad.

Wow very nice referenec.

I like the fact Ming and Timurids are so high, while I'm shocked by so high position of Lithuania and France being only 4th. Also it's awesome to see Hungary, Uzbek and Indian powers on this list.

Muscovy and Austria start surprisingly low.

If you are hated or loved, you said something of value.
Now, if you are ignored, then you need to move (or change).

I am getting downvotes from my idea of 1 war with big annex, maybe I said something stupid, or maybe my idea just need better arguments.

What's so surprising about it? Muscovy and Austria were pretty minor, in 1444 - Russia was thinly populated up to the end of the 18th century, even considering the more populous European part, and Austria was one of the many duchies around there - this was before their power started growing. And France wasn't like England: it had a lot of population, but most of the land was scarcely developed up to the French Revolution.

I think you have missed unique religious mechanics for Buddhism.

Besides, currently Japan and Ming are among top5 nations in the world regarding unique flavour, while India is on the level of interactivity of Europe.

Japan could use more provinces, Ming's events are all awful and irrelevant once you westernize. Slightly disappointed by the lack of Confucianism in the upcoming patch, but we'll see how the new features apply outside of Europe. Let's be honest though, every single expansion has basically been focused on Europe or connected to improving European game mechanics, and yes that includes ED, CoP, and AoW.

I'm more surpriced that Florence/Tuscany isn't on the list... I mean... It was the center of the Renaissance and very advanced.

Or Milan, really. The Papal States might be arguable - Rome was starting flourishing again, but it had a lot of catch-up to do.

What do you expect from nonchalant condescending attitude and immediately taking passive-agressive stance ('take on me, fanboys')? Hugs and rainbows? Maybe you would get more likes if you concentrated on discussing - arguably present - eurocentrism in the game (such as horrible state of African unit skins) instead of saying 'rotw sucks, devs suck and you all suck' and then crying you don't get Community Award for Mature Discussion.

Besides, complaining on 'worst community' because of few dislikes shows rather hilarious attitude in the context of #chans using word 'faggot' in every sentence, gaming communities using word 'noob' in every sentence or reddit system 'if you have different opinion and get dislikes your post is INVISIBLE so you are effectively censored'.

And I had few totally failed posts which gave me trucks of dislikes, so what? This is what disagrees are for. I greatly prefer it over Facebook's 'either you support it or you have nothing to say' Like system (actually Zuckenberg thinks recently about adding some kind of I Don'T Like It reaction to make users able to react on very bad news - 'I like this' under 'our friend is gone' is a bit awkward).

If it was me(not sure) then it is because I see problems with allowing it; the AI or new players doing that and promptly breaking their own country and/or getting coalitions of everyone. Also think that it would things a bit too easy but that is personal view so not a valid argument.

Development is about base manpower + base tax + base production so not really all that related.

Couldn't you guys add the possibility for us to change which provinces a released subject may get when we release them?
You added the possibility for us to give other countries their cores back after the war, why not give us the posibility to pick the provinces a released country would get?
That was always something that annoyed me in the HRE.

The worst you've ever joined? Have you visited any other site on the internet?
Btw, what did you expect to achieve with your comment anyway? "Yeah, dude, I'm totally with you! This expansion won't focus on what I want so eff it!" Seriously...
