Liberation is coming for France! No more fascist dictature in southern Italy!

Sorry for my lack of knowledge, but if you had a nuke, could you bomb Berlin and force Germany to abandon?

Advancing up Italy is always a real slogging match, unless you keep landing troops further and further up the coast. What is Italy's surrender progress looking like?

Japan's doing some nice work in the east, I expected for them to be pushed from mainland Asia altogether (which would mean the soviets get all that Chinese manpower *shudder*)

So... what's going to be the first target for your Nuke?

Reminds me of the episode in The World at War called "Tough Old Gut". Are all the Italian divisions in France? It is pretty funny that they need Hungary to defend Italy :p

You were fortunate to not get annihilated in Italy. Good thing the Yanks have finally arrived, maybe you can win the war now.

Dropping a nuke is a massive strategic attack in the game; it lowers their National Unity, which would help in making them surrender sooner, but you still need boots on the ground to grab the VPs.

Good work in Italy and great to see American reinforcements arriving at last.
But you really need to start guarding your ports, or patrol the seas, a lot better. One suprise invasion of the Isles is amazing, but if small fleets like those keep getting through I'm starting to doubt the competence of the Royal Navy.

Too bad you couldn't push further into Italy, but I didn't even expect you to get half way up the boot. Italy is really slacking if they need their allies to defend their homeland.

It's about time the Americans chipped in through more than just minor participation. I hope the invasion of France goes over smoothly.

The Soviets must be dumb if they think they can live at peace with the Axis right next door forever. Germany should be itching for a fight since they lost out on controlling France. They need somewhere to ship the non-Aryans.

Just make this a book XD

Welcome to the forums! If you know a publisher who'd want to publish this as a book, let me know. :)

misterbean answered below; to be more direct, considering I have zero German VPs, it wouldn't be worth much.

I'm thinking probably Rome, but it depends on how long it takes to make one and how the US is doing.

There are a handful of Italian divisions in Italy, but yeah, most of them are in France.

Do you remember if damages divisions too?

Wow! Quite the update that was. You know, you might just be making history here.:) Good job and great story-telling...as usual.

Thank you!

The problem is that I put most of the Royal Navy in the Mediterranean; I've got two fleets working in the British Isles, but they kept getting victimized by land-based air, and they were both in port getting repairs. Once my third fleet is finished, I should be able to cycle the fleets more effectively. I'm also seriously thinking of taking Norway and denying that particular advantage to Germany, if I have the opportunity.

I honestly think if the Soviets declared war on Germany, they'd be in Berlin in a month; I think most of the German army is in Italy or east of Suez.

I'm going to try to find time to play this weekend or next week, I hope!

I have never used nukes myself, but AFAIK they don't damage any units themselves. Of course, if their only supply line gets cut because of it, that could be disastrous in and by itself. I should test their exact effects at some point.

I used atomics* when playing as Germany once - dropped two on London and they surrendered.

* Good grief, now I am thinking DUNE.

I'd much rather have a couple of Fremen. With worms.

Did you see the Producer talk about L. Oliver's first "Effort"? Once he finished and was putting on his coat, the producer Jeremy ? pulled him aside and said something to the effect; "This series will be a record about the tragedy of the second world war." Lawrence thought about what the producer meant for a moment and then said; "I'll do it again"

Hmm, I'm unfamiliar with that part. I'll have to see if I can find a clip of it somewhere.

Given the problems in the Boot, I now tend to land at Genoa and its environs.

I used nukes as the USA for the first time this weekend. Dropped one on Berlin in mid-'44 - July, I believe (my practicals and nuke knowledge was cranking). What it does is stunning - all INFRA is wiped out. All factories, runways, AA, radar...it's all gone. Divisions don't take damage, but National Unity takes a hit.

Even bigger, though - it destroys their entire resource stockpile - EVERYTHING.

Germany's MP was already down to zero, but they still held Leningrad and there was only a mild Russian bulge in the center. I was in Italy (puppeted) in the Alps and Southern France when I dropped the bomb. I made a mad dash and puppeted Germany as a result.

As soon as Germany surrendered, I puppeted Slovakia, Hungary and Yugoslavia. The Soviets beat me to Romania and Bulgaria. Poland was liberated. I then nuked Tokyo and got Japan quickly.

As to this game - Avindian, I fired up a version of it yesterday. Japan is running amok in 1939 as well. I have one division in Singapore - 2xINF/1xGAR/1AC, commanded by ...er...one of the level 5 commanders. As soon as I was at war, I began building a land fort there and barely made it in time with the first level. With one wing of 3xTAC, I've been able to keep Singapore free. Of course, I've lost Diego Garcia and the Maldives, along with Nauru and Fiji, and they've landed in India and are making headway there. I've stopped the advance north from Siam around Rangoon (that one province bottleneck. I've been hammered naval-wise, though.

In North Africa, I'm holding firm west of Tobruk in the mountains, and have my second unit of 3xTAC hammering the Italians. Malta holds thanks to the Royal Navy. All three fleet carriers are together with escorts, and two battleship taskforces are lingering in the area blockading the southern Sicilian ports and the Italian North African ports. Problem is, I can't keep up with my convoy/escorts being wiped out. I've lost probably 500 so far in convoys, and around 250 escorts. Yikes!

It's definitely a fun game!
