Given their PRESENT states, which is the best PDS game to play? It used to be CK2 but as expansions have been added, people grouse about performance hits and features that don't work as advertised. EUIV also has its ups and downs. Is it VIC2? HOI3? Something else?
Which, in its current patched state, is the best?

I think that's just about every PC game ever made. ;)

I'd say EU IV is the best, but I keep changing my mind. CK2 and EU4 are very solid. I have not encountered any game breaking bugs in a long time. Depends on what you're in the mood for. Nation building or dynasty building.

VIC 2 was fun, but CK2 and EU4 make it feel too old school IMO. Also, the industry and pop systems are so complicated that I was never quite sure why the heck they were doing what they were doing, but I suppose that is similar to real life... But it could be frustrating. A lot of time consuming micro managing in general.

HOI3 - I would have great fun organizing my order of battle for 2 hours and by the time I was finished I realized that I had more fund doing that than actually playing the game. Also, this is (depending on how you play) the king of micromanagement games.

You're going to make me say it again, aren't you?

Yes, I still vote Victoria. I will always vote Victoria. Feel free to place any number behind it you like.

Vicky II all the way (CK2 close second).

I find HoI3 too buggy and restrictive and I find no reason to play EU4 unless I pick a ridiculous small country or self-handicap.

Even with the rather poor modeling of the Civil War? That's very big of you General Lee, to make it not about you. :D
I have other options. :D Victoria I, Ageod's ACW, etc, etc.

Victoria 2

Hard to tell. I don't like to like EU4, but it's actually where I have more playtime. CKII I just put up with the strategy bits and overall slowness so I can roleplay my crazy dynasties. Victoria 2 feels a bit too old at times but, oh well...
Yes, I think Victoria 2 it is.

I still play Vicky 2 the most often. Mostly with the Divide by Zero mod.

As of now? The best in it's completeness and functionality? Victoria 2.

Vicky II all the way ! (what is impressive is that it still has such a vocal community years after its release :p )

Although EU IV is definitely good and patches have gone better and better since Wiz has taken the lead (not that Besuchov was bad, but it seems there was a small change that makes all the difference I think :p ). CKII is good but I think that releases are still quite a mess although not as bad as what we could have imagined since Way of Life.

EU IV is my favourite. I don't know if this is their "best" game, but it's the one I enjoy the most.

The beauty of these games is that they appeal to different tastes. So what I view as the best (EU IV) might not even attract someone who feels that CK2 is the best game out there or someone who thinks that Vic 2 is the best game. Depends on what you want to do in the game.
As objective as I can be, I think this is a discussion between EU IV and CK 2 as HoI 3 and Vic 2 are quite behind given the time that has elapsed since their updates and the difference in interface/gameplay etc with all the new improvements. CK 2 and EU IV are far more aesthitically pleasing than anything else PDS has to offer.
With that being said, HoI 4 hopefully becomes the best out there [but as I said, it's a matter of taste, someone who prefers the character system of CK 2 or doesn't like WW2, might prefer the others no matter what].

I play and enjoy them all from time to time. Right now, though, my fav Paradox game is the "Guess What Project Augustus Will Be" game.

If you have a good computer, CK2.
If not, I'd say EU4.

Of games published in their name I give my vote to Darkest Hour or Skylines.
