What you say makes some good sense. I hadn't considered it (right away) as an option, but it's on my list. My main concern is pulling too much out of St. Nazaire, especially as the Germans pile up armor. Then again, I have to keep in mind the stacking penalties as well.

2 infantry divisions with AT support should do the trick, armour has horrific penalties for crossing rivers.
And you have battleships do you not? If things get dicey, park them offshore and pound those Tigers to scrap metal with those. See how they like a 25% shore bombardment penalty on top of their 80-something% rivercrossing penalty or whatever it is for Harm. The only thing that I recommend keeping an eye on is the whole armour vs piercing. I don't remember exactly how AT stacks up against Harm. I know it works fine against Arm. But that is what the shore bombardment is for^^

I believe you have to be ahead in AT tech to pierce fully up-to-date Harm. Question is, how up-to-date are the German heavy tanks?

You're on the move all over the place! France hasn't been the stunning success that it might have been, but then again, perhaps we're in the pre-breakout stage and perhaps we'll see a sudden collapse once the Germans Italians have battered themselves silly against your forces. I'd love a rush to the German border a la Real Life. :)

The offensive in the Middle East is going well, and even Italy seems to be doing okay. I guess your multiple fronts have stretched the Axis' ability to shuffle troops around and be effective everywhere. Real Life Winston Churchill would squeal with delight at the sight of your peripheral strategy. ;)

See, my issue is the one that misterbean mentioned below: I've been awful about keeping up with AT.

Would my tech even matter if most of my forces are American?

That's my hope anyway! Thanks for reading!

No, for expeditionary forces, the tech of their home nation counts.

Interesting situation! Hopefully we will soon be able to say
Paris, Paris outragé ! Paris brisé ! Paris martyrisé ! mais Paris libéré !
! You seem to be advancing rapidly, but isn't there a risk that you will end up meeting the Red Army before your arrival to Berlin?

I forgot to mention that I don't believe exp. forces upgrade any more.

That's what I thought.

The Soviets aren't at war with Germany or the Axis; it's possible I could run into them in the Middle East if they've started invading Turkey, but I don't they have yet.

That does not, sadly, surprise me.

Oh, I had forgotten that.

For those of you eagerly waiting for an update, it might be a bit -- I want to finish my game of CKII for that AAR first. Could be a week or more before I can update, so don't get concerned if it takes some time!

Wow, it's been a while since I've posted here. I still haven't played any more yet, partly because of Fallout: New Vegas but mostly because of about a dozen other things going on, all at once. If I can find some time this weekend or early next week, I'll fire up HOI3 and see where it takes me. :)

Pardon me for the triple post. :)

I got in a session of HOI3 today -- enough for another update, which is queued behind CKII right now -- but, man, it is getting to the point where I just don't think I can do much more with what I've got. The update should explain where I'm at.

That does sound intriguing and fearful at the same time. I think I have a rough idea of the problem, does it happen to involve angry russians?

Even if it means the end of the AAR, I'm looking forward to it (you know, when you have the free time, energy, and motivation to write, so no rush). I expect we'll find we've always been at war with EastAsia Eurasia EastAsia.
