I suggest we solve this in good old fashion CK2 style, we plot to kill MrNibbles and any male heirs he has and take over his title as QA Manager - Drinker of Tears....

Haha.. sounds like you have been given insight on how things work at the office (not a joke, but we tend to joke on the Stellaris team that in order to advance, you need to kill the one above you and absorb his/her powers :D).

And if you do not get a chance for the beta, you are more than welcome to find my character somewhere in CK2 and kill me there over and over again.

I can wait until online is available to kill you.. or get killed in a entertaining way :)

But I am not going to challenge the paradox emperors... their doomstacks are just too huge.

Why don't you allow an open beta? I never did understand why all games don't have open betas before the actual release. You guys have said yourself that we the players do more testing on day one of a release then that of all your QA during your normal dev cycle.

Can't speak for marketing etc as every department has their reasons. But when it comes to QA I would say it boils down to control. It's way easier to control the flow of issues with say.. 100 initial betas, and then slowly ramp it up. Especially since we have reworked how the betas are reporting all the issues they find.

Thats quiet reasonable. Also a smaller testgroup means a more controlled enviroment. Open beta means that their will be the crazyest systems to test the game. Some bugs can just evolve through such things.
Hope there comes a beta appilcation formular or something.

Open beta means 99% of people dont end up doing anything useful for the devs, other than playing the game for fun and potentially complaining how its unplayable in early beta.

On the other hand having like 100 selected betas means not only people whom you can rely on to report bugs and give feedback on features and gameplay, but also people who can bring potentially useful skills to the process as well :) (i hope stellaris doesnt turn out to be something completely new where my clausewitz games modding skills end up being obsolete, the game map already has me worried)

Hey, I just met you. And this is crazy. But I'm a good tester. So invite me maybe?

p.s. I'm so sorry. Someone stuck that song in my head, and since misery loves company...

As a huge fan of Paradox grand strategy games (CK2 726 hours, EU4 265 hours, EU3 377 hours, EU1&2 who knows because I couldn't buy them on Steam to track *grin* but it's a lot), and Paradox as a whole (pretty sure the only game I don't have of y'all's is Magicka 2 and that's only because I haven't found time to finish the first game).

And ya, I know there is no beta yet, but as this is easily tops on my wishlist for upcoming games, I'm def willing to um..well, not actually a killer, but maybe give someone a wet willy or something :D
Maybe kill everyone so u have more time for paradox games, those numbers look weak :p

Thats akward... a mod who takes notes Oo

Dear fellow betas, gather in circle, hold hands and rhythmically sing prayers in glory of our lord, Johan.

Thats the best way of appeasing the Dev-Gods.

It is known.
