Sometimes an event fires where one of your courtiers suggests to go on a trading mission. If everything goes fine, you get cash and the ruler of a random country becomes your friend.

You say that, but I have played many games where every pagan religion except for Suomenusko was reformed. The Suomis all died. To top it all off the Zoroastrains formed the Persian Empire. Side note, the Zunnists were all dead.

It is, Suomenusko's holy sites are spread out across a vast expanse of de-jure land, and in most starts, the finns are in worse situations than their neighbors.

Actually, if Suomi is formed with all de-jure counties you already have the 3 holy sites you need to reform it. That is, if Perm and Ryazan don't fall before that point.

I've had the AI form Suo a couple times.

Edit: I was mistaken, in the Kingdom of Suomi there are two holy sites, but the third is in Novgorod and can be taken with a quick conquest.

I meant any start with the HRE and bs de jure wars over Flanders plus any Charlie start I do the Ummayads rarely push out of Spain.
