One thing that I would like would be if the clothing that each race wore changed over time. Given that we're looking at a game that can span millennia, it would be a bit odd if each race kept wearing the same clothing that their great^n grandparents wore.

It could just be randomly selected with one game going space toga -> space sari -> space qipao, then another going space qipao -> space toga -> space sari. I realize that this is probably at or below the bottom of the list for the developers, but it would be a nice touch that would emphasize the passage of time throughout the game. Plus, y'know, options for comestic DLC. And who doesn't love cosmetic DLC?

Yes, but you must buy the Early Arthropoid/Avian/Fungoid/Human/Mammalian/Molluscoid/Reptilian Clothing Packs and the Late Arthropoid/Avian/Fungoid/Human/Mammalian/Molluscoid/Reptilian Clothing Packs.

Sadly? Very plausible. I mean... do you know how much time it would be to make for each portrait a version for different cloths? That would be so much extra work I can understand that the artists deserve money for this.

Just make them all naked, never gets old.
Eh, sounds kinda like a waste of time. Their clothing is just a representation not what he's literally wearing everyday for centuries.
Kinda agree. I'd prefer more personalized event pictures instead. Though there is dozen of options for each race type. Bah, too much work as well.

I certainly hope look at how we dress today compared to 20 years ago:

Oh wait...

How do you know? We have no idea what scientific advances will be made in the future. Maybe even underpants that washes itself!

I was munching on how you could make clothing that cleaned itself, since you need some way to remove oil, skin cells, soilage in addition to simply not getting dirty. The best I could come up with was a living shroud made out of some kind of bacterial or fungal colony that could metabolize it into some kind of sumblimatable excretion.

How about tiny nano-robots that cling to each other to maintain clothing shape and texture, and which remove everything added to them over time as it appears.

What about hard light clothing ?

Nano-bots are a good idea. It would be a less gross version of the living shroud.

Hard light clothing is interesting. It wouldn't really be self-cleaning, but it would be impervious to soilage, so you'd just need to wash with soap or vigorous loofaing on a daily basis.

I think I would rather effort be put elsewhere for what it's worth. I am fine with a crown changing or small things based on government but I don't think we need to have regular clothing changes just because.

I prefer for gameplay visuals to show players something of use when u see them. Especially~ if their is change. So if an outfit changed the player would naturally think "why did it change?" There should be a good answer there else they will think that information presented to them later does not really mater either.

That's a good point member of a theocracy and a military dictatorship should not wear the same space cloth.
