I got Victoria 2, and I love it, but I'm hoping Victoria 3 fixes a lot. The threads in the Victoria 2 forum have a lot of good ideas. Of course, it'll be a while...

As many others I feel inclined to say Vicky2, then again my playtime with the title doesn't reflect this at all.
So I vote EU4 for the moment.

But if Vicky3 were to ever come out, I think it'd take first place easily.

Vicky 2, followed by HOI3, only played EUIV once (cause the random head of state drive me crazy)

You know, when you get 200 years of crappy kings and when you get a good one he died one year after having the crown :D
But it is a bit the same thing with CK2, except that in CK2 you can improve, educate and interact with those skills, while in EU4 they do not change. That is the bigger issue.

EU4 is the stablest, most balanced one. CK2 has the most interesting focus and time period combo.

Haven't played Vickan or HoI.

This thread confirms what I've always suspected.

The general PDS part of the forum is populated disproportionately by Vicky players.
Perhaps their own subforum is so void that they are in a state of mass diaspora?

Victoria II. It's dated but is still a masterpiece. As far as ideas and innovation goes, strategy games rarely live up to Victoria II.

HoI to me is next up: HoI III's depth is awesome and the combat is great and while it is dated, buggy, and steep to learn, it is vast fun. The older titles are also fun but are dated in a sense and it can be a bit discombobulating.

EUIV is fun but is bland and gets old after a while. I've played over 600 hours but its lack of really amazing innovation like Vic 2 leaves much to be desired. I always find myself desiring EUIV to be like Vic 2, which should say something.

Considering how much I love V2 and HOI3, and how much less I like EU4 and CKII, I'm beginning to suspect I am not going to be happy with HOI4 and V3.

That's not really a fair comparison. EU4 and CK2 are very different games from Vicky2 and HOI3. Unless you have very specific reasons why you dislike EU4/CK2 and/or you also like EU3 and CK more than their successor I don't think you can make any judgement about HOI4, not to mention Vicky 3.

I'm not making a judgement. I'm having a suspicion. Chill. :)

On the other hand, I have faith in Dan Lind's ability and passion for gaming. His excitement over HOI4 keeps my hopes up.
