I have been eagerly waiting for a modern Star Trek: Birth of the Federation for well over a decade!

In fact.. there are two games I have been eagerly waiting for more than anything else, a worthy successor of SimCity 4 Rush Hour, and Birth of the Federation 2. With nothing but disappointments from EA/Maxis, Paradox/CO finally stepped in and delivered us Cities Skylines earlier this year, so my first wish came true. With a bit of luck, my second wish may also come true with the release of Stellaris and passionate Treky modders.

I wonder is someone could also setup a accurate map as of a certain stardate ie take control of Romulans as of tng episode 1x01
That would be awesome, would be great to at least have some starting eras to choose from, allowing you to start at a particular chapter, or start from the beginning:
Birth of the Federation (Late ST Enterprise)
A new alliance has been formed between Earth, Vulcan and Andoria, ending generations of bitter rivalries. But can the new alliance hold together?
Early Federation (ST Axanar)
The Federation has flourished since it's birth, with many new members, but an increasingly aggressive Klingon Empire is becoming a significant threat to the outer colonies.
The five year missions (TOS)
The Federation has grown larger and stronger than anyone could have possibly imagined, now rivalling the mighty Klingon Empire and the Gorn. Starfleet has gone back to its primary mission of exploration, sending starships deep into unexplored space.
The Next Generation (Early TNG)
The Federation now consists of hundreds of different species and cultures, and the new alliance with the Klingon Empire has brought an era of relative peace and safety. But beware of the increasingly belligerent Romulan Empire, and other more dangerous foes that may lay in wait within unexplored space.
The Dominion War (DS9/Voyager)
The Federation faces its greatest threat of extinction in history, with the start of the Dominion War, and repeated Borg incursions. Exploration has taken a back seat to survival, and the Federation desperately attempts to align the Alpha Quadrant powers to unite against the Dominion.
The fractured empire (Post ST Nemesis)
The victory against the Dominion came at a high price, exhausting the Federation, setting the Klingon Empire back at least a decade, and leaving Cardassia in utter ruin. Meanwhile, the Romulan Star Empire is on the verge of political collapse, threatening a new era of regional instability amidst more Borg incursions.
So, which era would you like to start?

Exactly!! I think the beginning of DS9 is my favorite era, dominion showing up and stiring up things
I'd love to start at early TNG, stumbling upon dangerous enemies that lay just beyond explored space.

The DS9/Voyager era can go in two directions, Voyager and STO, the borg are either neutralized as a threat, or bigger than ever.
