Hey guys! I have an idea for a new game! Its similar to werewolf, but with some important changes-most namely, there are no wolves! Instead it relies on what people think of you, what special ability you get, or what item you have. There is a vote every day as to whom to "vote off the island", aka lynch. Every night 1 player gets to hunt a player of his choosing.

At the start of every game, each player gets a certain amount of money and can earn money((don't know quite how yet))

-Brutal Mace-standard brutal trait- if lynched can kill another player.

-Seeing Glass of Paranoia- cannot be hunted. If selected for hunt no hunt is shown.

-Ring of Popularity- cannot be lynched. If lynched a random player is selected.

-Hunter's Bow- one night can set the hunt, regardless of whoever's turn it was.

-Robber's mask- can attempt to steal an item from somebody. If attempt fails, other person gets robber.

-Cloak of Disguise- if lynched, can swap his place for somebody else's once.

-Lovers- if one lover dies, then the second was does as well. Trait

Up to date version of game:

OBJECTIVE: To survive, or be one of the two remaining survivors

RULES: tbd

ITEMS AND COSTS:
Mace of Revenge-standard "brutal trait" of WW- if lynched can kill another player-100 Coins

Seeing Glass of Paranoia- cannot be hunted. If selected for hunt no hunt is shown. 180 Coins

Ring of Popularity- cannot be lynched. If lynched a random player is selected. 180 Coins

Hunter's Bow- one night can set the hunt, regardless of whoever's turn it was. 40 Coins

Robber's mask- can attempt to steal an item from somebody. If attempt fails, other person gets robber. 60 Coins.

Cloak of Disguise- if lynched, can swap his place for somebody else's once. 70 Coins

Boomerang: Any hunt on a player with the boomerang results in the hunter's death. One time use only. 100 Coins

Deathtrap: Set a target for a particular player. If the player hunts during the night, he dies instead of his intended victim. 100 Coins

Gravedigger shovel: You get all the money from lynched person. If there are multiple shovels, the money is split between them. 150 Coins

Monocle of Magnificence: once per night you can scan someone to see what gold and items they have. 130 Coins

Feel free tospeak any questions, comments, concerns, complaints, suggestions! I would love to use your suggestions to make the game better if possible!

One thing I've always found very important when coming up with WW variations, or more in general, any game like it, is to very clearly write out the end game.

What happens when there's only two players left? Or when there's only three? This is the climax of the game, this needs to be tense. You can't just go "oh well it's player Y's turn to hunt so he wins".

Literally, write out every possible combination of two players left and make rules on who can win, who should win, how actions earlier in the game could affect the positions now, etc.

You cannot just create an interesting start and hope that it'll become an interesting finish. You have to work hard at making rules that guarantee that.

OK! Thanks for the input! Ill work on that later today!

I'll have more feedback / suggestions later, but for now I very much like the switch from roles to items. That ought to make gameplay more active on the players' part.

Quite interested.

I'm interested if the rules are hashed out and all explained

If you have ideas feel free to post them! Soon will work on endgame. My tentative solution was just if 1 or 2 people are left they win. 3 or more and it continues!

You mention starting with money and earning money. Leaving aside the issue of how they earn money, why do they earn money? What do the players do with it?

One thing you might want to try is this: Whoever goes on the hunt can take the trait of the person that he hunted, if he chooses.

Other possible items:

Boomerang: Any hunt on a player with the boomerang results in the hunter's death. One time use only.

Deathtrap: Set a target for a particular player. If the player hunts during the night, he dies instead of his intended victim.

To answer about money:

1) Everybody gets one d20x10 amount of coins at start of game. The better stuff is higher ranked.

2) People get money to buy stuff. Also you can escape a lynch for 100 gold as well. You can earn money by hunting them successfully.

3) I am adding a Gravedigger shovel, a guy who gets all money from lynch. If there are multiple shovels, the money is split between them.

Noted. Thank you! As for the first thing, that would be you get whatever item they have if you hunt them. Will make a list with updated items, costs and rules in the reserved section soon.

Secret, unless the player chooses to reveal it. "I have brutal((renaming it to revenge)), you better not lynch me, yadda yadda."

ENDGAME

3 Players

The possibilities are enormous for voting with three players. But I should say no hunt with three players- whoever survive the lynch wins. Two players/one player left same deal. Any comments or suggestions?
