Back in the dev diaries, I recall seeing a dev saying that Humans will always exist in the randomized world. This thought has suddenly occurred to me. Wouldn't it be fun if there's an option in the universe creation menu to make the Humans a primitive civilization? It would be really fun to find a medieval earth and abduct the populace of that time, or discover early 21th earth that is barely beginning to leave its mark on the cosmos. Or, maybe even a ruined Earth? You'd discover an alien spacecraft containing weird images(Voyager 1), and as your science vessel travels to its origination you'd find a ruined remnants of Human civilization destroyed by whatever disaster it was brought upon of. I dunno, that'd be really cool.

I like this idea more than always encountering space faring humanity. It'd be ironic if humanity destroyed themselves in the atomic age though :p

"And all that remained in the rubbles of this far-gone civilization was one ancient relic, hidden deep within the Shrine of Paradox... the great Stellaris... a work of grave importance surely which our linguistic archeologists are working to translate even as we speak..."

Humans will not always exist in a game, it's simply that they are the only premade race that can appear in a game aside from the player's own race. They're a possibility but not an assured thing, if memory serves. I also seem to recall someone saying in one of the interviews that you could encounter pre-warp humanity, were you not humanity yourself.

i agree that humanity should be at any level of progress when you find them

It is possible to start as pre-warp Humanity right? So I could be subject to aliens meddling with my turf?
No, you cannot start pre-warp. you always start at the point where you have just build your first FTL ship I believe. But I'm sure it won't take long before a mod can let you start pre-warp

That's not at all what has been said.

What has been said, is that if you don't choose to be Human, there is a small chance that they will be seeded in by the generator.

I do, however, believe we should be able to come across primitive Earth, that would be pretty cool.

Considering that the Neborites in the dev diary (likely) destroyed themselves in Nuclear disaster, I have no complaints about finding humanity exterminated by such tech. Seems realistic looking at our history.
