Everyone is currently expecting Wiz' new project to be either EU : Rome II or Vicky 3, but what if it's Crusader Kings III?

Main reasons:

*It's the most popular paradox franchise right now
*It has many issues that can't really be fixed through dlc
*The game is starting to get bloated
*It still sells pretty damn well even though it's 4 years old.
*If CK II at one point stops being developed (1-2 years?) then paradox will miss a big market.

I think that working on Crusader kings III isn't the dumbest move one can make, it will draw many old and new players to that game which then could boost eu rome II or vicky 3 sales.

What do you guys think about this?

Didnt a DLC come out not to long ago? It's still being developed. I don't see a new Crusader Kings untill after Victoria 3. Hearts of Iron is getting a new installment now, so there are very few options left. As for Rome II, it is possible, given how they have a fresh Europa Universalis to build it off, but the interest and love of the devs seems to be rooted most in the Victoria series. And good is that, in my opinion (everyone wants a Vicky 3!)

A dlc did come out not so long ago but ck II has two issues atm 1.it's getting bloated with dlc and features and 2.it has issues one cannot fix in dlc. I think that paradox wouldn't be smart if they'd drop their cash cow just now, while it would be much wiser to develop ck II 1 year more and then release part 3 a half year later. Vicky 3 can wait as it's just a vocal minority screaming for it... the results of a third part wouldn't be as predictable as those of ck III.

Nobody knows. Just want to object at "vocal minority"; it definitely has one of the largest fan bases in Paradox's games. For example just check most peoples' avatar. I guess we just have to wait excited for more info

You don't develop a new game for your franchise if you are still working on its precedessor and selling DLCs for it just fine.

EU4, CK2 and HoI4 will all be pretty to somewhat recent within the next two years, and you don't leave a title like Victoria behind. Its similar with Rome, but I don't think this title has quite a huge and loving fanbase like Victoria seems to have. We don't need to argue that Victoria is the only game left of the old type of Paradox games with outdated version of engine, aged graphics and often obscure and unclear mechanics (just like EU3 and HoI3).

Also a new Victoria built on current Clausewitz makes the CK2-->EU4-->Victoria3-->HoI4 campaign possible. If someone has a few lifes of freetime.

Its to early for a new CK title. The gain that Victoria III, Rome II (remember CK I did not have the popularity of CK II) or maybe a non grand strategy game is bigger then the gain that CK III can bring.

People at forums are the vocal minority ^^. Data for various games has proven that forums are less then 1% of the total playerbase, most ppl just play a game.

Too bad it's a generalization, which - you know - means there are exceptions.
Example: In cases like the recent Bat game etc.

Another Rome game could be spectacular if implemented correctly. It's first iteration was pretty clunky and it didn't get a lot of love with subsequent updates, but if I recall CKI had similar problems that were ironed out in CKII.

Well, dont'get me wrong I would love a new rome game if implemented correctly. I just think ck III is more likely then rome II or Vicky III

You realize it is a problem to develop a future title while the current one is still in active development, right?
You are not going to get a CK2015 and CK2016 like in other companies [hopefully].

we are still QUITE a ways away from CK3. seriously i expect CK3 to be announced or released around 2025. CK2 is still getting major DLC, updates, and additional support.

Ck2 got a dlc a week ago, and if you look at the CK2 subforum there are tons of suggestions for future changes that could be implemented without much additional strain on the game engine. CkIII isn't coming out anytime soon.

There is no reason to start making CK3.

The problem with Vicky 2 is that it's too short and too cumbersome to mod. If Paradox manages to fix those two issues above all others then they've got it made.

I did try the Rome game my self. It is the only Paradox title I didn't like.

I would like a redo though but I always thought it felt more in tune with CK so I believe it should be built to feel more like that.

As for next game it will almost certainly be Vicky III. Which is logical but also some time off still.

It's going to be amusing to see you speculate
