I second this proposition. I love the idea of hiding the numbers and forcing the player to focus on traits (it also makes marriage a little more... interesting), but people should at least have a reputation for something if they are above average at a certain skill. Being opposed to the use of numbers to quantify abilities, maybe incorporating a two-tier system for people with 12-16 of a certain stat to have a significant chance of being characterized as an 'Able Diplomat/Commander/Steward/Intriguer/Theologian' and 17+ as 'Renowned Diplomat/Commander/Steward/Intriguer/Theologian". The trait would just be a marker, of course, and provide no significant bonuses (maybe a prestige or piety bonus for fun, but nothing more).
I think this is a good idea. I mean base stats can vary and makes traits less reliable in deciding who is best. You could also remove the combat modifier display in the character panel.

This is actually really freaking cool

UPDATE PATCH 2.4.1

Enjoy and let me know when it doesn't work.

This is rather interesting. I'm curious if it would be possible to make something that goes beyond the gui. For instance, hiding stats/traits for everyone in the game unless you employ your spymaster in a region (thus allowing you to spy on characters and see what their personality, etc is).

I guess for an experienced modder (NOT like me) it is possible, other people in this thread have also had ideas about expanding on this mod. I'd say: Be my guest! Like I said earlier in this thread, that is a rabbithole I will not enter ;-)

Thanks tazzoz! Was too lazy/busy to update it on my own, but I'm glad to not having see the stats anymore, seeing stats has become like a cheat to me :)

Vox, I had started programming something similar to what you're suggesting, but I haven't had the time to finish it. It's more work than one might think,

That's cool. :)

Got an infraction on defending discussing the idea in a thread pre-release.

Thanks for making it real.
Will try it.

the CTD was caused by a font mod I had running (100% sure)
o_O

Would you mind telling me about the incompatibility issue you had with a font mod or simply which font mod you used ?
Only ask as i'm curious which files or what and why conflicted, especially as i try to keep Morinns CK2 UI Font mod updated.

Ow it was nothing, if I remember correctly I used a outdated version. Works like a charm now (at least on my rig)

Am curious to hear from an elder statesman what his experiences with this mod are :)

Still haven't played yet with your mod, as i'm stuck on 2.3.6 with a cheat game.
I 'm loking forward too it though. :)

The reason i post, is that i didn't see your mod in the Mod Index thread ?
Maybe it would be helpful. Just occured to me, as i wouldn't have found the mod as easily , had i not downloaded it and searched for its name.

One small thing: if you would really try it's still possible to figure out the exact numerical value of the stats. f.e. the personal diplomacy opinion modifier is calculated solely from the diplomacy stat, so if you know the modifier you could calculate the stat. Probably something similar with the increase in levy/tax from councilors(not certain about that though).
But that would basically break the whole reason one has downloaded the mod, so I don't think a lot of people would do that :p

I don't miss the numbers one bit. Frankly, if I didn't make this mod one year ago, I wouldn't play CK any more (I think).

Took a while with all the patches, but here's the latest version of my mod, 2.5.2 compatible

Enjoy and let me know if there's a problem.

cheers
