A New, Different Britain: Interest Check

As the years go on, Parliaments shuffled around, careers made and ruined, parties created and destroyed, one can only come to the conclusion that politics never changes.

Our story begins with Prime Minister George Watson, once considered the man who defeated the 'old order' of British political parties is now considered the most corrupt, ignorant, and unpopular Prime Minister in the history of the United Kingdom and is predicted to lose in the biggest electoral wipeout in recorded history. With the Conservative and Labour parties no more, rising parties with new leadership are prepared to toss George Watson and his party out of power. With new political faces appearing all across the nation, people are wondering how the new government will take shape.

Hey, basically this is an interest check on for a game where people form their own British political parties, run through elections, form coalitions, simulate parliament ect. Players can form completely new parties, factions split off from major parties, or simply form a spin-off of a certain party they find interesting. The choice is yours, really. For some reason I feel there aren't as many election games as there used to be, I thought why not make a game of my own! If this ganders enough interest I'll definitely consider starting it up. Since I'm visiting family for the next two days this probably wouldn't be up until mid-week though.

So I was thinking of the start date being 1997, with issues like devolution and the Euro still being disputed, plus we have a good amount of general elections before we reach the present. I would be open to a different starting date however if it is more preferable (I'd like to stay post-WWII though).

Could we possibly have a 1900 startdate, or maybe like 1860? I'd like a Britain where the Monarch and the Lords still matter and can still form policy (and keep it that way :p).

1860? Try 1680. :p

1215 or bust!

I don't know if a 1900 start would really make sense with the premise.

What about 1945? The turmoil of war leading to the downfall of the established parties, the need to re-establish a postwar order, the Cold War raging in the background...

1931, with blackshirts and hookers?

To be perfectly honest, the present seems like a suitably not-not-feasible start. Labour splits for obvious reasons; the Tories split over Europe; fun to be had with lots of minor parties …

For reasons of ‘not-implausibility’, my preferred scenario would be a 2016 start. I don't think there's any other time when it would be as easy to fabricate fairly solid reasons for party break-ups.

Count me in, for a radically different Britain!

I think that an alternate 1931 with a strong BUF and ILP would be fun, but I guess a 2016 game could be fun as well.
