Alright, both CK2, and Stellaris have changed paradox a lot since eu rome came out.

i'ma make this brief we have a 5 year old still active thread detailing the reasons why need rome II.

I enjoy vicky 2, but let's be real, vicky 1 even was concieved in a time when paradox had very niche customer base.

My argument is this and it's simple, walk upto a random person on the street, you say "Are you a gamer? great!, now what is cooler to you, Roman era or Victorian era?"

now we all know what the -mainstream- gamer will say and that is rome of course,

so now u got bunch of mainstream ppl, youve proven urself with new experiments, youve refined EU4 and CK2 to a great deal, I think you are ready to do rome II now,

plz do this guys, im fairly certain you still hve a massive following waiting for rome II, it's still discussed daily, and has been ever since rome I.

this is not a thread to hate on vicky, we know vicky 3 will see the light of day, but rome 2 is more uncertain.

who else wanting rome 2 atm with current Pdox technology?

Mainstream or not, a new Rome will only be successful if you can make the game challenging & interesting, & that won't happen if the period you play is dominated by an all powering Rome, like the original game. Instead of Rome it should be an ancients game, covering a far earlier timeline with all the ancient civilisations involved.

I'm just going to leave it here and see who wins it out beetween Vicky and Rome supporters:

At the moment we're not creating new IP's. We just expanded the family with Stellaris and will probably hold off on completely new stuff for the time being :)

Count me in. But I'd like a "golden age" of civilizations spanning a longer period/scope.

For instance, a game with the competing Hellenistic kingdoms that went to Alexander's generals, also bringing in rising Rome and Carthage (I know, a ilttle ahistoric) would be great.

Yes, a classical game would be awsome, just called rome, cause of course that will attract more people then "antiquity"

I do. Making it a game about the antiquity in general over just rome works as well. Not to mention Crusader kings is more then just the kings that went on crusade, names need to sound cool and Rome sounds cool.

Of course I am not so sure Paradox cares about Rome 2.

I'm in favour of both a successor to EU:Rome and a Victoria III.

How about releasing BOTH Rome 2 and Vicky 3?

Considering that they are doing that for Stellaris and HOI4. This might be the best solution to the issue of Vicky3 and Rome2. That way we get both games at the same time :)

yea they seem to have some inbuilt anxiety about rome game, dunno why, but a few years ago us rome 2 supporters were literally scum ,exiled to be laughing stocks of the forums, shams personal play things which he torture over and ovre again :p the shirt...i still remember the shirt...and the hype...and disappointment that followed.

But yeah, all they gotta do is a little looking to see rome is a widly popular idea.

I mean jesus, the "Who wants rome II" thread, is the second most viewed thread beyond "ask paradox anything" and they were made at the same time rofl, that should be proof enough.

damn the things they could do these days, we could literally have pops, character interaction everything that makes their games great.

edit: if u guys truly think rome 2 not popular, kickstarter it and we will prove u wrong...very wrong MUAHAHHAHAHAH *evil face*

That was never planned though. It was just how it ended up since HoI4 was postponed a couple of times, and will probably mean they take a hit for it financially. I'm not going to buy HoI4 for the very reason that I used my game budget to buy Stellaris (and still can't find time to play the damn game with me not having much time for gaming at all, and using said time with EUIV and Vicky 2 recently).
