Now this idea is a suggestion which is only going to be applicable if you decide to make a EUIV -> Vic3 converter in the first place (which also assumes making Vic3 while EUIV is the running EU game), and I'm going to assume that this will be done for the rest of the thread, since it's a basic premise which is necessary for this thread to be meaningful.

Given that, the suggestion is to make the converter compatible with the EUIV RNW. I realise that this may be difficult to do, but the reason I'm suggesting it is that it would be a really cool feature, and I think it would probably need to go in at the beginning to be feasible to implement at all. Even given that it might not be doable, but at the very least I would appreciate it if it was thought about (basically I'd prefer it if you thought about it and decided not to put it in due to low benefit/cost than if it wasn't thought about until it was too late to put in). So basically that's what this thread is; a quick suggestion that an EUIV -> Vic3 converter be compatible with the EUIV Random New World so that it gets thought about.

I'd love it.

Now, making it work would be a big challenge. I ALWAYS play with Random New World when I want to play in Europe, Asia, or Africa because I like to shake things up, and even see the fantasy advanced Native Civ. Would be better if they had a small AI modifier to encourage China, Korea, Japan, and Moluccas to explore and colonize the Pacific if the RNW spawns more continent closer to Asia than Europe (sometimes it does) as long as China chooses to support outward expansion and Japan is unified. Would be very interesting to not only see the new geography, but also how an advanced Native civ would walk into the modern era, or how the world would work if Asians colonized rather than the Europeans (or if both collided in the New World). A Chinese Canada over a Spanish United States bordering a modernized Aztec Native Empire.

However I definitely see the problems with costs. It takes a lot to just make the random new world, let alone program it to be balanced and transferable to a whole new game with whole new rules. I mean, the CKII to EU4 converter has largely been forgotten, especially after the new Development mechanic was added in Common Sense. If the majority of the audience was interested in Victoria III to play from EU4, then it would be worth it (many people would then even make sure they bought both games). However, I am pretty confident the majority of people would look at Victoria III and hope for a historical start.

What they COULD do then, is make the "converter" EXTREMELY modder friendly. Modders would be able to make not only a Random New World transferable into Vicky III, but make it properly balanced with any new mechanics. A big thing would be the likelyhood of seeing a new-world nation become the "land of opportunity" so that there could be some equivalence of an America in the game that would be a capitalist powerhouse. I don't see a Native Empire fitting that bill (since they are basically no different from any despotic European or Asian empire).

This is largely ignoring a lot of historical holes, of course.

Today's Devdiary proves you wrong. The converter is very much not forgotten.

I know :) it's really great.

I'm not sure how much good making it super mod-able is likely to be for RNW compatibility. Now I might well be wrong, and it might be relatively easy to mod in, but if I were to guess I would say that it would be the kind of thing which has to be put in at release, and that it would be a lot of work to add in after release for the dev.s, in which case I don't think it would be really possible for modders? I may well be wrong though.

I'd love it if they kept making converters (and gave us EU4 to Vicky 3 and Vicky 3 to HoI4) - and it would be super-excellent if they could cope with the random new world as well, although I'd understand if it was too much work (at least using a tiled approach should make it a bit more feasible).

I'd really like an option to just convert my nation.

Most often ften converted games are too weird and unbalanced on the whole.

But if I could take my Manchuria-conquering, high tech Korea into Victoria, and establish myself as the premier Asian power, take all the sweet colonies from UK and Netherlands, I'd be a happy puppy.
