Nil AFAIK because all four of them are based on a single fanatic ethic. Unless they add a fifth FE that is a hivemind. And I'm not sure how a hive FE would work, obviously one that failed to complete biological ascension. How the hivemind FE would interact with the War In Heaven stuff, no clue either.
Or the Praethoryn could be one that completed biological ascension instead of stagnating.

So a few of my friends and I were wondering how some of the paid DLC features in the empire creation screen will work in Stellaris Multiplayer if only the host owns the paid DLC. Will players not owning the paid DLC still be able to make, say, hive-minded ethic empires with the accompanying civics, but only be able to use these empires in the multiplayer sessions where the DLC is bought by the host? Or will players not owning the paid DLC not be able to make empires with the paid DLC features at all? Any help would be appreciated, or if this question has already been answered, any redirection would be appreciated too! :)

In all Paradox games, whatever DLC's the hosts has define the game rules. Thus, if the host has all DLC, everyone joining will play with all DLC, regardless of which they actually own.

Everyone get's the hosts dlc for the game so they will be able to use it

A way to introduce more different types of hiveminds would be trought civics. Add in a "benevolent harmony" type of civic that allow you to integrate different pops instead of consuming them right on the spot, et voilá. Going against stablished game rules is precisely the entire point of it, since that is how you make flavourful, distinct empires rather than limiting them to a +/- X% modifier, I think.

A Hive Mind Fallen Empire would be very dangerous depending in what they think about their neighbors.

All fallen empires are equally dangerous!

So why not?

I doubt it, the Prethoryn don't seem to operate like these Hive Minds at all, instead being a corroding menace that twists even planets it occupies into its own horrific form.

That said, one of the Shroud teasers implies the Unbidden are the result of a race being transformed into Psi-Stuff, so who knows.

@Wiz, I've been checking and it doesn't seem anyone else has asked so I would like clarification on this: besides Hivemind, do any of the other Ethics lock you out of other ascension paths? I could see someone who chooses Materialist being locked out of Psionic and Spiritualist locked out of Synthetic but what about, for example, a fanatic militarist individualist empire? Do they get to choose any one of the three?
