I haven't been following Paradox forums or other channels lately for news about upcoming PDS games. Have there been any info what would be next game after HOI4/Stellaris or when we would get some info

Those who know aren't saying. But I think the majority of the forum's best guesses are either Vicky 3 or Rome 2 (or some other flavor of an antiquity setting).

I'm wishing for Victoria III then Rome II, a Cold War Grand Strategy, and/or a Fantasy Grand Strategy (along the lines of Stellaris). Even though I rarely do it, I always fantasize about doing a massive Mega-Campaign.

Maybe something totally new? Like nobody could expect Stellaris

Actually there was a rumor that somebody had leaked info on PDS making a Space 4x game about a year before the announcement of Stellaris. But you really had to follow the forums and even then believe in the rumor :)

Why Vic3 or Rome2?

- Rome2 might be possibility, since there has been a long time demand for it. And Roman era is always sexy
- Vic3 I count as unlikely, since Vic2 was not a financial success. And neither was Pride of Nations.
- Hiring Jon Shafer might or might not indicate towards Rome2
- Acquiring AoW developer might or might not indicate towards Fantasy

What? But why?

I'll admit, it is quite strange. However, I think a Crusader Kings style fantasy RPG Grand Strategy by Paradox will be quite awesome. Also, in regards to a mega campaign, you could potentially write a story about the origin of the world (even how the historical nations actually start) or even write a post-apocalyptical event after Stellaris.

Victoria 2, btw, did make a profit. (Hence Fredrik notoriously shaving his head.)

There is no reason to believe it would be Vic 3 or Rome 2, I think it is more hope of the die-hard forum community xD

Don't have much info other than Jon Shafer -- Civilization V lead designer -- is working on it and there were some shuffling within the teams to accommodate for the newly created team.

with the acquisition of triumph the fantasy grand strat will probably be age of wonders 4 if pds isnt already deep into development of one

Triumph won't be integrated into PDS, but remain as an independent in-house studio under PDX -- in the same vain as PDS.
Any future Age of Wonders products [not including spin-offs on other platforms] are most likely to continue being developed by them.

Yeah the acquisition if Triumph seems to make internal fantasy game unlikely. It certainly would be bit grand for Paradox to just buy competition off market.

What I sort if hope is some kind of ancient mesopotamia game (perhaps with number of distinct unconnected campaign eras as the period is so vast). That's really untreaded ground (last one I can remember was published by Paradox in 2003) but at the same time I wonder how commercially valid it would be.

I remember a post from @Trin Tragula if my memory serves me well, that said that it wouldn't happen due to lack of historical sources

Vicky2 was financially successful. Why/how this rumor that PDS lost money on it got started and continues to pop up, I don't think we'll ever know.

It's like the people that continue to state with authority that Stellaris runs on the same engine as Eu3
