i dove into a run to unify the Norse pagans, starting in the charlemagne bookmark, i set it to have the vanilla-ish dejure empires, so far is 798, i've managed to land the crowns of sweden (i noticed it's "vilkinaland", pretty cool name btw, kudos on that one) norway, denmark, finmark and livonia (i took the decisions that divide the sami kingdom between norway/sweden/finland) i basically own all of dejure scandinavia, except for all of the north sea kingdom, and 2 counties in livonia, back when i got the norway/sweden/denmark crowns i noticed that i could create a titular empire called "norse empire" and just as i conquered my latest county i was able to create the dejure scandinavian one, my question is, which is more advantegious to create? the norse empire is cheaper, but titular, and scandinavia costs a lot, but it's dejure and would give me the chance to diplo vassalize the norse counts in iceland, so far my biggest fear is that, as far as i remember, in vanilla, if the scandinavian empire didn't form before the year 800 it's quite likely for the norse culture to begin diverging, would that still happen if i formed the norse empire? (i've already reformed btw)

-snip- as far as i remember, in vanilla, if the scandinavian empire didn't form before the year 800 it's quite likely for the norse culture to begin diverging, would that still happen if i formed the norse empire? (i've already reformed btw)
The mechanic is actually, as I recall, being a norse cultured empire of a certain size. The title doesn't matter iirc

thanks, i think i will indeed go for the dejure one, the 3 crow shield is quite cool(especially cause i've managed to snatch 3 crown items so far lol), a shame doe, i tried out the other one with an older save and the map color is really cool, although the shield is more germanic than norse (the eagle), but i don't want my empire to fall apart when my ruler dies, especially cause he's got 8 males, oh boy, i'm sweating the succesion crisis already , at least a dejure empire and the vilkirate should make it better, and just a thing, i still don't know about feudal, since i've yet to settle, but it'd be really cool if the cultural title for a Tribal-pagan emperor-tier norse ruler was "high king" instead of "emperor" unless the HRE or ERE, or some pretender to the "succesor of rome" the title "emperor" doesn't really fit

That's... Actually a valid point... Hmm...-pondering intensifies-

So, what I've done in our working version is made all tribal empires default to "High King/Queen" with a few exceptions. I carried that over to Feudal North Germanic cultures. I also made a few adjustments to Irish cultural localization to compensate for this change and avoid a little of the confusion (and un-translated Rí and Banríon back to King and Queen)

that's a pretty nice idea, and you could also use variations of "great king/queen" for the european/west african cultures that don't match the Germanic/Celtic concept of a "high king" and "king/queen of kings" for the asian/east african ones

the difficult one for that would be the indians doe, as the king-tier "maharaja" already means something along the lines of "great king",
maybe raising "maharaja" to be emperor-tier, "raja" to king-tier and renaming duke-tier ones to "prince"?

Form BOTH so you can have more prestige. Just make sure the dejure one is your primary title.
Welcome to plus where you're limited to one empire tier title and can't create a second

Damn...but that's why I love this mod. It solves almost literally every single cheesy or frustrating thing that vanilla CK2 has.

Can you still usurp a second title?
You can inherit but not usurp iirc. Been a while since we put that in so I don't remember specifics. If you wind up with two it causes an event that makes you pick one.

you can inherit. once you get a second title an event will pop up giving you three options. destroy one title, destroy the second one or delay destruction for 30 days. if you delay you can normally give out one of the imperial titles, or you can use a special decision "grant imperial title" which will give someone an imperial title and make them a tributary. note that delay option is only available if one of the empires is non-titular.
