Stop dramatizing guys, really.

Firsty, Chris King is back at Paradox and is likely a game director of Victoria III, which is likely in development.

How can we know that the game is in development? After Stellaris release, someone from Paradox stated that they have 2 or 3 games in development. In addition, another PDS or PDX fellow stated that they do not plan to extand their game family with different franchise (completely new title) for some time. That probably means that both Rome II and Victoria III are currently at some stage of development.

I thought I read that was back, but couldnt remember the link.

HOI was always going to be published because it was a sure thing that fans buy. Vicky had a smaller market, due to focusing on two conflicts that people forget: German Unification wars and WW I. All that being said, my first Paradox game was Vicky II, largely because I WANTED a German Unification and WW I game. In terms of gameplay and historical setting, there isnt anything close to Vicky II.

Nohomo, but I love you so much...

Sounds interesting. Do you have any links?

Maybe it;s time we crowd fund and crowd develop Vicky 3. We could call it Vicki Free to avoid the Paradox lawyers. If Twitch can play pokemon, we can do this.

Freectoria: Totally not a copyright violation under the sun

I could be totally wrong, but I believe I recall a dev saying that Vicky 2 was basically the brain child of one person who is no longer with Paradox. As a result, Paradox has no idea how to improve upon the economy system.

That person is Chris King and he is now working at PDS once again. He is confirmed to be working on an unannounced project. That project has been hinted to be Victoria 3. Considering also the previously linked statement that PDS aren't working on new franchises but are working on new games and it's not a huge leap to figure out that Vicky 3 is almost certainly in development.

They won't announce anything until it's pretty close to release though, so I say just relax and enjoy the pleasant surprise when it comes.

Any links that say he is back at PDX?

"That project has been hinted to be Victoria 3". Could you tell us more, please?

In the Reddit thread I linked before there is a bit where posters are speculating (mostly in jest) about what games might be in development at Paradox and Shams makes a post: 'Victoria 3?'.

Certainly nothing like confirmation but mentioning it in the same post in which he confirms that Chris King is working on 'a thing' certainly feels like a hint to me. But to reiterate, there is nothing here that is definitively evidence of Victoria 3 in production, it just seems highly likely to me based on all the things mentioned in this thread.

cKnoor explicitly stated on the Stellaris stream that there were no plans to make it. He also said that during conversations he had last year with another employee (missed who) they were not considering starting any time soon.

Wait... what?!

Thanks @spartansociety. If I understood that correctly, cKnoor just denied that they are going to announce Vicky III soon - which I did not really expect. But he did not explicitly say, that the game is not in development.

If we are getting very scrupulous I'd point out that what he says is that it's not going to be announced this week.

The video is from last week and she says:
- "there MAY be something cool happening next week (i.e, this week)",
to which cKnoor replies that he
- "can confirm there is nothing about Vicky 3 in any of that"
then she laughs saying:
-"No, not at all".

Gamescon starts in more than 3 weeks, so technically speaking they could still announce it. That being said I have repeatedly stated that is is my firm belief we will not be seeing Vicky 3, chiefly because if it were o happen it would have already.

Wait. Are they going to announce something this week?
