Sure, makes sense, better than to invent completely random names. Although the capital of Kul Tiras is Kul Tiras, right? :p
Boralus

But that is directly against canon, unlike say Drisburg, which I understand? Plus, it breaks the whole naming convention where the kingdoms are named after the original city-states (Lordaeron after Lordaeron, Stormwind after Stormwind, Gilneas after Gilneas, Kul Tiras after Kul Tiras).

How about you use Boralus, but for another city in Kul Tiras, not the capital?

Wasnt kingdom of stormwind at first either, it was the kingdom of azeroth

Lordaeron's capital is not named Lordaeron. It's just "Capital City", which is silly but there it is.

According to Chronicle Vol 1., Lordaeron was Lordaeron (you can see it in that map I posted above), its rulers renamed the city only after the city-state transformed into a kingdom spanning half the continent.

It was in Warcraft I - III, but they retconned it. According to Chronicle, Stormwind was always Stormwind.

Edit: Here you have direct quotes from Chronicle.

Edit2: And while I am at it, here is something on Kul Tiras.

We are aware of the chronicle quotes.
You have brought this up before.
We also have access to chronicle.

That is 'current' blizzard lore.
Which means jack shit since they might change it at any time as is the blizzard trademark.

It is not current, this particular thing has been canon since 2005. But you stated that you follow Chronicle's lore primarily, hence my mistake. I see you follow whatever you want, even giving something that has never been canon precedence over something that has been canon for twelve years. In that case, there is no use to give you suggestions on lore at all.

Also please keep in mind that the surrounding region of a city doesn't need to share its name. So we can have the County of Boralus, whose primary holding is the Barony of Kul Tiras. And so on and so forth.

Sure, but isn't it more reasonable to use Boralus for another city on the island? At least you would have one another name to use. :)

I know this is basically a minor thing, it just feels strange for me to see any city other than Kul Tiras as the capital of the kingdom, especially since even twenty years ago, when I played Warcraft II, the capital of Kul Tiras was Kul Tiras. :)

But as I said above, this is your mod, if you want to do this your way, no need for me to suggest anything at all.

So instead, it is better to use information from RPG (because that is the only place where Boralus was ever mentioned, with capital of Kul Tiras being Kul Tiras everywhere else). Got it.

Or just settle it like real men, in a duel, beating each other to a bloody pulp :)

Why the need of arguing when you can actually change the name of any title at any time? :)
So, if in CK2, Kingdom of Hungary would be renamed to Kingdom of Schnarf, nobody should complain, because they can change the name of any title at any time.

Whoa excuse me, I will -not- tolerate sensible and reasonable ideas in my mod thread? There is but one god here and his name is Metzen.

I don't think it is really that unreasonable to want the base game as correct as possible. I mean, imagine that Paradox named the kingdom of Bohemia the kingdom of Czechoslovakia and told us; hey just rename it?

(I know it is not completely comparable, because you are not paid professionals, just a group of volunteers who do great work).

BUTT MUH CANNON!

What do cannons have to do with this? :p

There is a (semi-)canonical precedent for the capital of Kul Tiras being called Boralus, and from what I learned from talking directly to one of the RPG's designers, a lot of their stuff came directly from Blizzard. While he didn't specifically mention Boralus, it strikes me as something like Mogul Razdunk - an odd detail that really ought to have come from them. So the idea of Boralus in Kul Tiras most likely came from Blizzard CDev, and while it may not be directly confirmed in current canon, it would be a part of it more likely than not, if we were given the chance to visit Kul Tiras.

As for Chronicle's statements about Kul Tiras being the capital, for all we know it was a capital until Boralus grew bigger and the balance of power shifted.

Regardless, everything points to Kul Tiras being involved in the next expansion and its announcement fairly soon-ish should dispel any doubt about Boralus being there or not.

The problem is the RPG is not canon, as such, nothing concerning it can be considered canon, even semi-canon. It's the same as with Hearthstone, which even though it is developed by Blizzard themselves is not canon to Warcraft, it is a spin-off. As for Boralus being present in World of Warcraft, I wouldn't be surprised if it was given the name's familiarity, just not as the capital of the nation. Which ultimately brings us back to our suggestions here; nobody is saying that Boralus should be removed, only it should not be the capital, merely a major city.
