So a relatively bitter election it sounds like, though one eventually peaceful despite the threats.
I just pushed game up to 1.01.1975 and so far only problem are periodical small communist revolutionaries rises.
However, during this cadency (up to elections of 1974) socialist-communist parties continuesly lost power and liberals won second time in 1974.

Chapter 6: Under new management - First and second Kuroń gabinets and summary about state's progress during communists' rule (1st of January 1970 - 1st of January 1975)
Part one: Census of 1970
After liberal coalition took power, there was a time to make another summary of Poland's developments. This time however, liberals decided to summary whole Poland's progress under PPR and PZPR.
uux9XhJ.jpg

At beginning of communists' rule, whole polish budget was at terrible situation - state's incomes were ten times lower than expenditure, money reserve was nearly nonexistent and there was a risk of state's bankroupcy. Communists did their best, managing to stabilize the budget by drasting cuts at expenditures and radical tax increase. Also, while they were developing state's economy and industry, basically build it from a scratch, new money incomes - and expenditures - appeared to Polish budget. As of 1st of January 1970, budget is in generally good condition, with daily incomes at 616,2mln złotys, despite lowered taxes and nulled tariffs and 583,1mln złotys expenditures. In comparison to 1946, state incomes grew by 3000%, while expenditures grew by 500%. It should be noted however that Poland managed to competely avoid foreign debt and whole state's services are mantained at good standard.
j1elZct.jpg

The communist party managed to rapidly expand polish welfare state and workers' rights, including 6 hours workday, high state-provided pensions for elder people, free universal healthcare, advanced work regulation system, clean industry regulations at maximum possible standard, citizen salary concept, many social services merged into Safety Grid, parental leave for parents and free education at all stages for Poles.
i3TbBSu.jpg

Polish population grew from 29,98mln at 1st of January 1946 to 39,08mln at 1st of January 1970. Population structure changed dramatically with polish industralisation, increasing industry workers ratio from 1,8% in 1946 to 15,6%, meaning the increase by nearly 1000% in 24 years.
ZzDhR6I.jpg

Postwar Polish Armed Forces (disbanded in 1946) had 27,000 infantry soldiers in service. New Polish Army trained during second Gierek's cadency, consist of 30,000 infantry soldiers, 30,000 tank soldiers, 15,000 airforce soldiers and 15,000 artillery staff. It's good supplied, although outdated army, capable to mantain Poland's defence in war.

VqoSqcm.jpg

Poland entered Cold war period with nearly nonexistent industry and massive unemployment at decimated factory workforce. PZPR did their best to counter it and managed to expand Polish industry by 1100% in comparison to 1946. The party also managed to secure this industry as whole during 1960-1965 transition and no factory was closed (unless by direct party demand to make space for necessary investitions) during that time, aswell as noone was fired at all.

Zq5S7E9.jpg

Poland in 1946 was merely puppet of USSR with literally no allied states. Now there's no USSR, Poland is independent country and direct ally of Germany and Latvia. It's also 6th industrial power in Europe.
yV4P3av.jpg

Poland was 18th most popolous country in the world. Downgrade in comparison to 1965 wasn't caused by Poland's failure, but rather due to rather slow population increase ration in comparison to Third World countries and enstablishment of Guangdong state.
HAJ4qgE.jpg

On global education ration index, Poland managed to advance to 13th position.

Just goes to show Poland's impressive gains.

I felt that it needed proper summary. Previous censuses were just reports about current progress with the same party in power for 24 years. Now there was radical change in government and it deserved some kind of deeper summary.

Chapter 6: Under new management - First and second Kuroń gabinets and summary about state's progress during communists' rule (1st of January 1970 - 1st of January 1975)
Part two: 5th of February 1970 - 4th of July 1973
While Kuroń and his gabinet agreed on terms of Poland's economical development, they also told that with economical development social development should also follow. As a result, liberals proposed that economical development will be continued for next 5 years, but for another five years (1975-1980) there should be focus on education improvement, societal developments and general liberalising of Polish society.
ELQDQSm.jpg

At 5th of February 1970, there was major unificational reform of Polish złoty. While the same reforms were introduced by Władysław Grabski in Second Polish Republic, they needed to be introduced again, due to collapse of Poland after 1939 and because communists focused more on industrial development than reforming złoty back to decimal state and unifing the country for that standard.

As of 31st of July development of Microprocessor finally finished. New industrial goal was to introduce liquefied natural gas to polish industry.

April and May saw effects of drastic military cut caused by TR and their anticlerical approach. While pacifists were celebrating stable, peaceful policies of TR government (which were much older than TR as we know), there was massive conflict between TR and Polish Catholic Church. As a result, liberals decided to find a compromise with the Church.
AjLO8Di.jpg

November saw communist revolt in Northern Poland. Although 2,1% of Poles were dissatisfied with situation of the country and revolts were small and easy to pacify, old proPZPR sentiments were showed in Polish society.

* I know, it's weird to have internet public in Poland for 1970s, but why not?

** Another thing, although didn't showed due to not showing by me each year's Diet sorting, was the fact that despite events, communist support continuesly fell down. At 1st of January 1970 communist party had support of about 14,35%, in 1971 11,6%, in 1972 9,15%, in 1973 7%, in 1974 5,62% and as of 1st of January 1975 it was 4,53%. Socialists were more stable, with growth from 36,27% in 1970 to 37% as of 1975.

So I wonder if that is the last gasp of the communists.

This is great. Keep it up, I'll be following.
I keep it.
I just have to find time to publish images, place basic comentaries and find the word when needed.
Also I study in uni, which halves me down a bit.

So I wonder if that is the last gasp of the communists.
In fact, I want to keep the party as narrating center, not to be "killed", but rather a form of dynasty rulling the country as "benevolent ruler".
I'll probably switch SDRP and PZPR aswell, becuase increasing popularity of socialists at cost of communists is simply caused due to "socialists" being actually waay more radikal than so-called communists.
I want to keep them just as something like secondary political democratic block, which is centrist and willing to democratize and "modernize" the country.
It's not "our timeline" PZPR, but rather something like real one socialdemocracy party, with desire to build the country up "from ruin to capitalism".
Because market system is competely natural thing for me, I just want to keep welfare working as it's economical fundament.

So the Communists still causing issues - in my head I think these more as cases of civil disobediance and the like rather than true rebellion. Perhaps a little minor sabotage.

They're simply unsatisfied. It causes nothing as those rebels just do and will rebel each time just because they exist.

Chapter 7: Beginning of development of modern society (1st of January 1975 - 1st of January 1980)
As liberals proclaimed earlier, second half of 1970s was planned to develop Polish society - modernize medicine, focus on science a bit more and continue economical development of Poland with introduction of modern technologies, modern education system, science and other things required to turn Polish society into Western one.
B8WAO0c.jpg

GOzeBSP.jpg

In terms of economy, there was only one thing to worry about - workforce. Although Polish industry grew by about 17% during last years, many of enterprices and industrial sectors were understaffed, which caused low industrial grow for economy and low level of industrial effiniency in selected enterprices.
To9LG41.jpg

Polish population grew to 41,39mln of people. Most of the society was actually employed as physical workforce and intellectual classes were still as weak as in 1946. There was needed for expand teachers social class and aswell as other ones if Poland would want to develop itself.

At 1st of January 1980 Upper House rearranged itself.

Yes time to invest in the Polish people

One, maybe personal thing on explaining problem of railway construction staying behind:
- currently, the global market is low on resouces, especially timber (which barely fits its own needs), so there was a reason why I wanted to develop resouce industry first. Actually most economies have problems with their financial security and selected ones (for example Great Britain) tend to waste their population reserves on military populations. (I didn't shown it yet, but for example London is filled with soldiers pops despite producing money to the market and Britain is example of country constantly in debt, just because it wastes her reserves on soldiers and have barely industrial capacity for her population).
