Hi all,
Been playing Paradox games a while but have never visited the forums. In recent months I had two game ideas and my friend suggested I post on the forums. Hopefully that's happening in the right place.
I mostly play CKII (I haven't found time for things like HOI IV, even though I own a ton of the games produced by the studio). Anyways, my two ideas are both based on CKII, I guess, but have different complications:
1) An election/political sim. I know there's Democracy and someone makes that awful Political Machine series, but I think a Paradox version would be super fascinating. It could allow the player to choose a country and select certain traits, etc. and then allow for a realistic play— perhaps like Dynasties in CKII, it could be like party power? And like monarchs dying or being usurped, there could be similar issues. One could also incorporate wars, and factions could be like political factions. The scale could also exist: one could start by running for smaller national offices. I could see this being a lot of fun to start at running for like, MP or something in the UK, and trying to become Prime Minister; alternatively running for the House of Reps in the US and working your way up to President or Speaker of the House, etc. The game could signal (in the US) that there's a seat open in Senate or something if you're in the House. There could still be wars and what not on an international scale (instead of the religious wars of the medieval ages, now it could be coalitions, etc.). Trade would also be a huge part, and, if you put the game in a modern context (which I imagine could be changed around as needed), you could make global terrorism and issue also. Seems very complex, but I feel like it might be an interesting idea.
2) A mafia sim. This might be more American centric (I dunno) but might have a similar CKII vibe, in that you could start by taking a specific neighborhood or family (the way you can start with a county or even as an emperor in CKII) and fight for space/influence, etc. Just like one would murder or plot to kill in CKII, you do similar things and wars could be mob wars of sorts. One could start as high or a low as they wanted and work up and it would definitely work on a dynastic system, though perhaps less blood related and more... "family" related? No doubt there are criminal and mafia elements all over the world— each place could have their own methods (kind of the way different religions function in CKII).
Anyways, unsure how one would send along such ideas or even if there would be interest, so here these are and hoping someone finds them of interest!
