Hello fellow followers and readers!
I have something to ask you? You will get a new update kinda soon, hopefully tomorrow or on Wednesday. But I have something to ask you. I want to know what do you want, I have my own opinion, but I would like to see yours as well.
To make it short. Germany screwed us up, their divisions are being decimated and there are no reinforcements coming (it turns out that Germany would need 400+ manpower). I have started a tactical withdrawal from the eastern front. Most likely Europe will fall to the Soviets.
So the questions are:
1. Did I make Hungary great again/enough? (There are some new achievements in the upcoming update)
2. Do you want to see how Hungary will fight off the red menace to it´s last man standing?
3. Do you still enjoy my AAR, I know that I put more effort in the first few updates... Do you miss some historical photos, even if the descriptions are made up, to fit the story? Or some conversations between the leader and ministers etc.? You can give here any feedback, it would really help me to make it more enjoyable for you all!
4. I was thinking of doing a new AAR after this one comes to an end. What do you say if I give Italy a go? Or which country would you like to see me play? :)

1. You made Hungary great enough.
2. I would love to to see Hungary fight to the its last man standing.
3. I still love reading this AAR.
4. I think Italy would be a great pick because I love the way you describe naval warfare.
5. Keep up the good work :)

1. Yes, Hungary’s greatness has been enough, if temporary.
2. But I too would like to see that greatness reflected on the defence as well. It is now what, August 1944? Either fight to the end, and you can if you wish telescope the action if you’d like to get onto a new project. Or maybe set yourself a marker - eg historical VE Day or end of 1945, whatever - and then see if you can survive until then. At that point, call it a day, notionally join the Allies or Soviets, with Horthy resigning and going into exile in South America!
3. Still enjoying, still commenting. :) Happy with the battle-oriented style now you are in the middle of a desperate war.
4. Italy sounds good, or whatever you like!

PS: so I was right after all and the Germans are toast? At least they had a fight back, to stave off the end a bit and allow the Hungarian Army to withdraw and prepare to defend the homeland.

1. Yes you did - a fine showing.
2. To the last bullet, to the last pebble, to the end.
3. Yes.
4. I would read. I really could not care less about country though :)

2nd army corps is awaiting in France for an allied invasion, it may also defend Italy if the landing happens there

The royal Hungarian army is advancing smoothly, looks like we will be able to cut the Soviets off from Iraq

A new landing in Greece

The airforce was sent to aid the Italian counter attack, which succeeded in driving the Allies out to the sea

Henneyey army inteligence reported a very poor state of the German army, here are just some estimates.
2cz6igw.jpg

Gustav Henneyey immediately sent a telegram to Horthy, who was on a mission, commanding the Royal Hungarian Navy. After the failed invasion in Greece Horthy did the opposite of what Henneyey expected, he ordered the tank divisions, to push forward. Gustav was fond of it, but he carried the orders out anyway.

Looks like the army is performing admirably

Around midday the watch identified some smoke on the horizon. There was fog and the air was cold. The admiral was notified about this and using light signals ordered battle stations to all ship. Slowly there were smoke stacks visible. All the ships were ready and awaited Horthy´s order. There was some radio signals received from them which war translate to: "Please identify yourself, please identify yourself, here is October revolution, are you hearing me?" The Hungarian radio operators war sweating heavily, than somebody else continued in Russian "You idiot, they must be the British..." the radio operator than started asking in English for identification. Horthy grabbed the microphone and said in English "Here is the Royal Hungarian navy reporting." There was dead silence from the Soviet side, Horthy continued in Hungarian "Open fire!"
The Hungarian ships unleashed their salvos, they knew that October revolution was the ship who sank all of their ships. They waited for the day they could avenge their fallen comrades. They fought fiercely. The Soviets fired back, their actions were not synchronized. It was clear that they realized the troubles they are in. After 3 hours of intense fighting the battle was over.
2qajrps.jpg

A Soviet destroyer picked up the SOS signal form the Soviet ships and came to the scene. He approached close, only to realize that he is in the middle of the Hungarian navy. Horthy ordered to radio him the following message: "We picked up our sailors, pick up yours. We will not fire at you."

The battle results:

The next day Horthy broadcast a speech, all troop at the front listened to it. The news of such a great victory later let them to push even harder, to their limits. Henneyey asked Horthy to recall troops from France, the Admiral prohibited it. As he knew how dangerous multiple fronts can be. But he issued a different order.

Our units actually managed to get to Stalingrad, but the order to fall back was issued. (it didn´t save the screenshot)

The Soviets started attack also on our part of the front, which went from Kiev to Rostov on Don and further east. The army started to withdraw strategically. The Germans were notified about our actions, but no reply came.

You can see that the northern and central part of the front is being pushed back.

Horthy salutes you all!

Oh so close! So very close. It feels like, with a little more German efficiency, the war in the East could have been won.

Fighting the fight - good to see. Personally, I’d vote against tagging (the opposing AI always needs all the help it can get ;)) but do it if you wish.

I think you have done very well. We can do nothing if our Allies blow-it; except tell that the story.:)

As far as continuing? It would complete the tale. But, it is your call.

For me, I think a story of defeat can be even more compelling than one of victory and it is usually more challenging to write.

Cheers

Yeah, it surely would be interesting to see what would happen if I would cut off those Soviet troops. Well the war is not over yet, we shall give the communist a good fight. :)

(Log over to Germany and disband some of their worst infantry, better their Panzers gets the reinforcements).
I did this, but just to check their situation and they would need 450+ MP. I would have to disband quite some divisions to feel this quota. At least they have some usable units in France if a landing may happen there. I will not do anything, I will play as Hungary until the end.

I will not do anything, don´t worry. I will stand up and fight the Soviet hordes. Also has an ace up his sleeve.

I will continue and fight till the end and write updates about it.

Btw guys, nobody commented on the destruction of the Soviet navy, it is not that you see the Hungarian navy beating up an another navy in every AAR! :p

This is a clear and terrible oversight and I can only apologise on behalf of my fellow commentatAARs.

Admiral Horthy is to be commended on sinking the October Revolution - if only the Soviet Union was so easily sent to the bottom.

Hey, it's fine to sink the soviet dreadnoughts. But shame on the captains of that sunk light cruiser and the destroyers for their failed try to sink the soviet ships with their torpedoes (other reasons for being sunk by them doesn't make sence).

Yeah, my oversight there too, I did intend to comment but got lost in the AAR-Q.

Yes indeed, a major win for the ships of the Hungarian-Armada.:D Only time I've seen that sea-battle.

Same here. Still, a pair of Bismarck-class battleships against the poor old WW1 relics the Soviets fielded? The great achievement was in you building them in the first place, but well done to bring them to battle and actually sink them. An encounter with the British Navy would, as someone said above, be interesting. How did the naval war between them, Italy and Germany go, do you know?

It's just because we are so stunned by the navy's victory.
Ps. now take on the UK's fleet :)
It sure would be interesting but if I have a navy in the Adriatic sea I can fend off any landings on my territory.

He has already the highest rank and probably all possible medals :p
I like the word "commentatAARs" :)

It was kinda stupid but that´s how screens work in this game.

Well you may see an another special battle with UK. :)

Only one is a Bismarck class, the other is and older type (L-20, some German designs from ww1). I wouldn´t call them poor, the October revolution sink all of my previous ships, so this was a revenge.
I will try to make sure that the achievements of the Hungarian Navy will be remembered for generations. :)
I will show it in the next update if I don´t forget. Anyway Italy still has some ships, but they are all in ports, RN has total control of the Mediterranean sea

16. Chapter: Hold the line!
February - August 1945

The situation on the Eastern front

The Soviet steam roller is starting it´s run

Finally the long awaited forces were withdrawn from France

The new front will be on the Dniester, our tanks are still holding out on the Dnieper allowing so the retreat of allied soldiers

On the 21. of April the Allies landed in Corsica (for the third time I think)
2u89hlg.jpg

The situation in May, Horthy moved it´s navy back to Hungary
29mq72t.jpg

Due to a soviet breach north of our possitions, the troops were ordered to fall back since they might have been flanked. This is the new deffensive position, where orders are to hold at all cost, since if this front falls, the Soviets could get into Hungary and also the allies of the triple alliance would be exposed and wouldn´t be able to hold the Soviet steam roller on their own. Henneyey tried to make use of as much natural barriers as possible.

Our soilders had enough time to dig up properly before the Soviet would reach them and launch the first attack

Gustav Henneyey send a telegram to Horthy, notifying him that the line is holding like a rock!
2iuf7fd.jpg

The same however can not be said for the Germans, we sent our tanks in Slovakia, but it looks dire.

The Russianas managed to break in one sector, but the counter attack pushed them back!

The foreign minister shocks Horthy with the following news
2gxi3b9.jpg

It seems like the Soviets are not attacking anymore form the Polish territory. This explains it, but how long will it last?
24digm1.jpg

At least the Germans got some time to reorganize their crumbled army
9rkn0k.jpg

In August Horthy met Henneyey at his HQ, after he firstly greeted the brave Hungarian soldiers in the front line.
Horthy: "Tell me Gustav, what´s the situation?"
Gustav leans over the map and says: "In the past two weeks there have been a couple of attacks here and here, but we managed to push the back. Though the Soviet are bringing up more and more troops as well as some heavy armor, this was reported by some reconnaissance."
Horthy: "What about our allies, what´s up with them?"
Gustav Henneyey: "The most organized are the Italians, some of their Alpini (normal mountain) is helping us in Romania, fol the other they seem like chickens without head, running up and down."
Miklos: "Can any of them reinforce us?"
Gustav: "I am afraid not, the only capable are the Italians but it seems that they are preparing some kind of an attack."
Miklos Horthy: "An attack? Are they mad?"
A telegram came for Horthy by the Italians.

Here are the Axis army status

The navy was sent out without any explanations, sure it left a clear sign of it´s presence.

The RN would not let such thins happen

After the loss of a light cruiser Horthy ordered the navy to fall back! The navy was allowed only to intervene if a landing happens on Hungarian soil.

The Polish dismissed the truce with us, the situation in Slovakia looks grim

In hope that our allies can help holding the front, some troops are being moved to Slovakia

The new front is holding for more than 2 months, soldiers make them self busy doing anything, trying to not think if they will be the next to be attacked.
