so basically in other words Harmony Gold can suck it.

Yeh what’s their problem anyway? In 25 years of playing Battletech/mechwarrior, I’ve never understood their claims to certain mechs derived from anime they have licensed, but don’t own. It seems that here recently they stepped in it, and there’s a good chance a judge is going to finally call bull**** on their constant litigation over this crap.

Warhammer mech is best mech.

yeah that whole issue stems from the creation of the original Battletech anime from the mid-80s. long story short the Harmony Gold license is dubious in many ways and may not even be valid outside the original amalgamated anime (seriously the OG battletech is 3 different early 80s animes which are completely unrelated but all mashed together somehow) but that hasn't stopped Harmony Gold from being some of the scummiest and most litigious copyright trolls/squatters involved in the video game and japanime industries. and when you look at the record of the guy behind it all (Frank Agrama) you'll clearly see why.

HG even tried suing Hasbro over Transformers in a G.I. Joe vs Transformers thing from 2013 claiming that some transformers were in violation of HGs license and trademark to the 1982-194 Macross anime. that went about as well as you'd expect. and it also perfectly shows just how petty and scummy HG is and has been for the past 40+ years.

so yeah, whether that judge tells them exactly where to stick it, or HGs license is waited out till it expires in 2021, Harmony Gold's day of reckoning is nearing. it's a really interesting thing to read about, especially since i had no clue about any of this until the youtuber Sidalpha started talking about it.

i wonder if the Battletech universe could become a good CK2/EU4/Vicky3 mod at some point? at face value it seems like it has the needed formulas to add to the PDX modding community's expanding portfolio of universes being modeled.

They will be doing the final DLC for EU8 called "Luxembourgian legends IV", which will finally feature the long waited decision to invite the French engineer Vauban to upgrade the fortifications. The free patch features a blueish gray shade for Luxemburg and the kingdom of Lotharingia. Also the map now features the province of north-east down-town Baden-Baden and playable province of Nenets.

In CK6 the timeline has been extended all the way to 10000 BC, but Catolicism and Orthodoxy was split back then too. Also you can't play as humans anymore, only animals. Mostly bears and horses.

Vicky 4 will be a FPS where you shoot dirty commie rebels.

In HoI9 the only playable country is Tibet and if you haven't conquered the world by 1938 the game will tell you to "git gud" and uninstall itself.

Nah, by 2045, every PDS game will have been rolled into Europa Universalis. It will be multiplayer virtual reality ala mount and blade with everyone trying to climb to emperorship. The forum will be a virtual reality “forum” of the Roman style with a vocal minority bitching about how it’s unfair that primitives can’t WC by 1246, but gamey players can colonize alpha Centauri in 1792.

It will be amazingly different and yet the same old sh**

and everyone will have player models of either anime waifus or Ugandan Knuckles.

The naval supply system will become more indepth. Players will have to manage a naval resupply system requiring them to micromanage coal and water supplies, as well as making sure that each ship carries enough of the right sort of citrus fruits to prevent scurvy, and produce appropriately sized docks and specialized repair facilities, taking into account the spce available in each harbor. Ocean storms will also be introduced, requiring players to choose between risking their ships to plough straight through a hurricane or going around, remaining in harbor or trying to protect your navy by sending it out to sea. Ships will also routinely require major overhauls, both to upgrade their equipment and simply for repairs, forcing the player to choose the whens and wheres of outages.

So basically "Ports of Call" set to the 19th century.

We'll finally be able to learn Golden Horde !

OLD Mongolian that is...

Indeed. However the true benefit of learning the languages is the new City View feature. This allows you to walk around your capital city and converse with your citizens! Enjoy the experience of having a crusty old mongol explaining how your an idiot for taking the Expansion idea group!

I'm sure EA or another large publisher will have eaten Paradox by that point....

paradox already IS a large publisher. sure not EA/Activision large but they aren't just developers and they aren't vulnerable to hostile takeover like Ubisoft.

Supreme Leader @Wiz will be the Emperor of Sweden and will have a workforce of 100'000 people working on the Stellaris sequel. It will be glorious.

The year is 2045, and Paradox Development Studio (or whoever they merged with) never stopped making sequels to these games. Groogy's half-hedgehog clone is still working at the company. Give your best shot at what predicting these games will look like by then.
in 2014 hoi9 will still run clausewitz
