So, what are your predictions for upcoming PDXCon (which starts on May 18)?

Do you think they will announce any new PDS game? (Victoria III? Rome 2 or something in that spirit with a different name?) What are your hopes and fears? Do you hope for a particular expansion theme for current PDX game? Do you expect any new cool game from other developers?

Let's speculate... since what else could we do?

The ticket sale starts on February 8th, the actual con is in May (unfortunately).

That said, I'm still hoping for a second attempt at a cold war game.

Thanks, I have no idea how I did not notice that myself. Well, that means we have a lot of time for our speculations...

My wildcard guesses:

- 2.1 Patch for Stellaris, accompanied by DLC which could be Trade mechanics and system traffic.

- First DLC pack for Surviving Mars. No idea what, let's say Severe Weather / Disasters pack.

- Not sure if they will ever announce Victoria III - but the Con would almost certainly be the way to do it.

- Expect some interesting Battletech content.

Expecting: Access to pre-release EU4 1.25 England patch and accompanying Immersion Pack.
Hoping For: Kalabalik (again!)
Annoucements: Stellaris 2.1 patch - civilian focus, At least one of the current Unannounced Projects to be revealed, with release date of this summer.
Wildcard: PDX seriously considers a subscription service?

I'm expecting that we'll probably get a DLC announcement for one of the current games and that one of the upcoming Grand Strategy games from Paradox will be announced. That said, as much as people here hype up about it, I sadly don't think it'll be Vicky 3. I feel that we are more likely to get Rome 2 first before we get that, simply because Paradox seems to be making their sequels by order of release date.

Crusader Kings came out in 2004 and we got the sequel to that in 2012, Europa Universalies came out in 2005 and we got EUIV in 2013, and finally HOI3 came out in 2009 and we got HOI4 in 2016. Of course, then again, EU: Rome came out in 2008 before HOI4, so from that logic may no longer be valid, but we'll see.

I think if Victoria 3 isn't announced at this, there might actually be a riot on the forums. Everybody knows they're making it. Some people want EU: Rome 2, and I understand that, but from what I've seen a vast majority on this forum want Vic 3.

Just because the Vocal Minority Minority speaks out in want of Vicky3 doesn't mean people still don't want EU: Rome 2

I don't really see how MCBC6 said people don't want EU: Rome 2. Just that more wants Vicky 3 than EU: Rome 2.

I still don't think they will announce a new GSG before at least autum.

Hmm, given that TW Three Kingdoms is slated for Fall 2018, I think this is the case as well.

I actually think we'll see at least 1 hour of Battletech gameplay, especially the part behind the scenes (so far we've only seen the battles, but not the strategic gameplay behind it)

I also wouldn't be surprised if we see something from White Wolf, or Paradox Arctic. I also have a feeling something's brewing under Colossal Order.

I also think Collosal Order is working on something new - perhaps a historical city builder (medieval? ancient?). I actually stopped playing Cities: Skylines (think of giving it another chance) long ago, but anything new from them could be refreshing.

Vicky 3 is the dream. I expect PDS will release something in late 2018 and it could be Vicky 3 - the announcement during PDXCon is definitely possible.

You know I am going to throw a curveball prediction that I will start to gamble if I get right...A fantasy Grand Strategy! We had Stellaris what are the chances they would work on a game that does some of the random generation for them

I would agree that fantasy GS from PDS is unavoidable, but maybe not just yet.

Maybe we will finally get a World of Darkness announcement (Please be Obsidian presents Bloodlines 2).

Or Vicky 2 with the new Paradox "Bismark" Engine.

How is the Bismark different than Clausewitz?

As discussed in the other threat, fantasy GSG for PI would be wonderful, but it would mean making a batch of new lores from scratch, which I don't think they'll take now. My guess is White Wolf could potentially supplant this lore, but again, the worldbuilding takes such a long time that the more likely time we'll see one is about 8 years from now.

By the way there's been a lot of Steam sales for Victoria 2 specifically over the past 6 months, so that is a great indicator. It was a featured deal I noticed once.

They'll announce something, they had a lot of angry Con-goers last year when nothing by PDS was actually announced. Third Rome didn't count as it was revealed on the forum beforehand.
