I have very serious doubts about the efficacy of wind powered anything on Mars. For all practical purposes , as far as humans are concerned,The surface of Mars is outer space. The average surface pressure on Mars is .087 psi. Around an earth altitude of 24 miles or so. If you see the videos of Felix Baumgartner leaving his balloon gondola ~128,000 feet , you'll notice no wind resistance of any kind on his SPACE suit. Not even the slightest flutter.. see for yourself1

Truly INSPIRATIONAL footage of Felix Baumgartner jumping from space. Felix Baumgartner, an Austrian daredevil skydiver, has become the only human being to beat the speed of sound (768 miles/hour)...

Watch this:
tl;dr: wind turbines are of comparable efficiency to solar panels on Mars due to a whole bunch of circumstances, and they have the advantage of working in the night.

Nasa no longer has the credibilty it once had long ago. Remember, this is the agency that has spent ~$30 Billion USD on the SLS. A system that drowns in pork.By 2025 we will have paid close to $50 billion for SLS and Orion, and the best we can hope for is a single manned mission. And that one mission will have taken 21 years to go from concept to launch. Windmills on Mars cause Nasa says so? If SpaceX was talking about this , it would be a reason to take it serious .Sorry Scott, Hope ya at least got a T-shirt from Nasa for being such a good cheerleader.

For every dollar NASA receives from the American public, it returns between 7 and 21 dollars through the Technology Transfer Program.

exactly correct, Nasa says windmills in essentially outerspace is a fine idea , because , after all , they are NASA...follow the money , it will lead you to the truth.
Are you going to trust any source in this over your own feelings?
