With the seven kingdoms forming the Human Imperium, I can't help but wonder if there is a Horde / Alliance (titular) Empire title - thus resulting in kingdom titles being duchies mechanically. Begs the question; how will you be handling titles?

In addition, will you be doing SVN or a beta release and if so, any further information on an ETA?

Unifying the kingdoms results in the Empire of Arathor, this isn't WH40k.

Current plan is to have the WoW-era Horde and Alliance be empire-tier titular titles. Members of the factions will be custom tributaries to whomever holds the title (which requires either Horse Lords or Jade Dragon on part of the player; I'll be setting up a system to vassalize members if neither are present).

As for a release, hard to tell. We're working hard to get one done. As a heads-up: such an initial release will likely be bare of nearly all custom mechanics, even teased ones, because some are either incomplete (and completing them would delay a release) or need reworking. The plan is to release and then do small, quicker, updates fleshing out the map (and expanding it as well, of course).

Naturally, that was my implication! Merely pointing out a unified Human front. Nonetheless, whomever holds the titular title will receive the others as tributary; will it be in rotation or can there be multiple leaders and is it able to sustain other Empire titles or would that require others to break free? Very curious how that'll work as both are technically more or less coalitions of sorts.

Not to worry, merely curiosity! I can wait and am simply content with the progress you're making now, all what you have looks very good and promising. I can only add "Keep up the good work!" and say if you need testers, let me know!

Thanks to Jade Dragon, tributaries can be customized now so they can work like semi-independent vassals. The choice of tributaries was to allow for things like members of the Alliance or Horde holding empires, controlling how much they contribute to their faction and so on. Further, alliances in CK2 only last as long as both rulers are either alive or have some sort of kinship, which would be bothersome to keep refreshing.

As for how leadership will change hands, we don't have anything set in stone yet.

Orc/Troll Characters
Alright, I made progress those past weeks on something that was quite important but only partially there on portraits : Skin color. Now trolls and orc both have skin color as a DNA parameter.

This will probably extend to more races since it is essential to some of them and it alleviates work : before, we had to copy and recolor each layer files, which means that if we needed to edit a body part, we had to copy and recolor the file again.

I took this opportunity to remake male trolls since they were unpolished and... placeholder-y. I also added more facial variety for female orcs.

Check those out :

A possible solution to the Alliance/Horde side of things is to imitate A Game of Thrones handling of the Iron Throne.

Cool! Nice the work so far!

So will all the troll sub-races be added to the game? Because I'd love to see the Dark Trolls, since the BFA alpha says they where still supposedly around before the twilight hammer wiped them out. Also will some of the Black Rock Orcs have yellow/red glowing eyes?

Dark and Sand trolls are basically recolored trolls the same way that red, black, white and brown orcs are recolored green ones.

So yes, if we find somewhere they live (by lore source) there will be trolls of color.

So far looking very great :)

Could you possibly give us a quick dev diary on the First War start date? :) Some screenshots of political map and look on some important and famous characters, that would be amazing :) If its possible of course :)

Keep up and thumbs up men! :)

Would you prefer that they release with a relativly big mod with lots to do and few bugs or one with so many bugs and incomplete features that it dies on release? if the former, then dont be so negative all the time khoi, afterall, you arn't the one voluntarily putting time into a project that doesnt pay.

So it is confirmed? Any angry waiting for this mod to release people, only ask the released day of this mod again after the next DLC or patch released. Just for fun, if the next DLC or patch is not perfect, don't expect this mod to release after that, wait for the perfect one then ask again

So any progression update, release date, anything?

If ANYTHING is what you request

Placeholder ready means there is something in game with customizable faces.

Placeholder WIP is ... work in progress, might have a single static portrait to represent the race or only a few things that can change.

Main holdups on my (and Kei's) end are the limits on time and the lack of source material to work with (e.g naga, troll, dwarf children, kobold females etc etc).

And that we have remade some races several times (orcs, elves and trolls) as skill and material available have improved.

The list is longer but blue is "What we need for the eastern kingdoms until warcraft 3" so its prioritized over lower items.

Uuuh, not my area!
but here
Arthas WIP mockups, first one not aligned with normal human faces (but oh how god-emperor he looks)
arthus.png 1arthas.png
Need to align Arthas living head with normal human so the eyes, mouth etc are in the same place on both, done for LK.
God damn Hakkar is low quality in wow T.T

Gul'dan and "Normal spellcaster orc" for reference. Same works for all orc leaders. just not done.

Do you know what bugs me? their heads arent the same proportions (and the tilt)
They are eternal so i guess irs first war

How are these "uniques" faces handled ? Limited to specific bookmarks, I guess, but, can mortal Arthas age or lost an eye, or gain a crown, something ?
They are handled in the same way E.g Muhammad is in vanilla, their character specific layer is placed over the nose, mouth, eyes etc layers but beneath the eyepatch, injuries and illness layers.
Thats why the eyes and such need to be aligned. If a normal human become blinded their eyes ate blacked out, if the same happens to Arthas the same black spots appear on the same place.
Same principle for disease and other injuries.

But he wont age. (Unless i make a ”young” and ”old” version of the image)

Hopefully it will be worth it in the end for the recognizability in important characters.

For the Horde and Alliance, why not making them open societies that only independant rulers can join (but restricted for certain cultures/religions) while forbidding them to join any other society during the defined time period?

Specific portraits for Arthas and other important character? Really nice. I see you pay attention even to smallest details. And about Arthas, it will possible to him to not become death knight? In this one peculiar moment of Warcraft 3 I regretted that was a linear game.

Kul Tiras will be included with the EK, so in our initial release. It will be shaped based on it's pre-BFA appearance, where it is fractured thanks to the Cataclysm (and the size is more of a gameplay concern, as Horgian correctly said). There will be some references to stuff that's already been revealed from BFA like zone names, dynasties (and characters on the game bookmarks) and such.

In the WoW chronicle vol. 3 preview, there is a map of Azeroth before 3rd war and Kul Tiras shapes looks must the same as the BFA one.
