Description
Linux - Crash on new game and graphical glitches

What is your game version?
227.923

Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
Linux Mint 18.3 x64 with 4.13 HWE kernels
Graphics chip is a Intel Iris Graphics 5100

I mentioned the crashing in this report as I believe it is related to the graphics system. When using an updated graphics stack from https://launchpad.net/~xorg-edgers/+archive/ubuntu/ppa the game doesn't crash when trying to start a new game. Without it and on the normal hwe xorg stack the game crashes when trying to start a new game.

I think the screenshots pretty much described the glitches by themselves so I'm not explaining them.

Can you replicate the issue?
100% of the time

Intel video systems are not supported on any OS for this game, I'm afraid.

Nor is Mint; only Ubuntu and SteamOS.

Linux Mint is basically a rebranded Ubuntu. And the min requirements on steam for windows list a Intel HD 4600.
Please link me to where it says intel graphics chips are not supported because that would be 90% of all OSX users.

That's an AMD Radeon system, not an Intel.

There is no radeon HD 4600, there's a HD 4670 and a HD 4650 but no 4600. However there is a Intel HD 4600.
Then explain to me why in the same line it mentioned a Radeon 6450?

Graphics: OpenGL 4.5 (GeForce 600/AMD Radeon 7700 or higher) with 1GB of video RAM

Sometimes games don't list all the graphics chip manufacturers in the requirements that doesn't mean they're not supported.
The important thing is the OpenGL or DirectX version.

So is this the official stance from the devs that they are unwilling to support intel graphics chips?
Then what is the point in supporting osx?

http://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey/?platform=mac

The top 9 graphics chips for osx are all intel and combined account for almost 60% of all osx gamers.
Total osx gamers using intel chips is a much higher percentage as apple only sells amd/nvidia chips in the most expensive mac which few people have.

How does this make any sense?

Well, I'm having graphical issues too. This is Arch which is unsupported, sure, but here it goes anyway (also, steam runtime makes this largely irrelevant). This is on latest stable mesa, Vega 56. I get weird black hashes on the ground.

You are right, I was mistaken - stopped reading after the first hit. We will correct that to add the word Intel there.

Nevertheless that's Windows with its DirectX standard. All our games have higher minimum hardware requirements on the openGL platforms.

The game is explicitly not supported on any Intel on Macs or Linux.
