Chapter 9: Populist takeover, state-provided childcare and second financial crisis (1st of January 1985 - 1st of January 1990)

The very first debate during elections was topic of economical policy. As always, the government decided to support mixed economy model of economics.

Elections turned into being rather stable ones with population satisfied overally from condition of the country.


While studies of wars on national liberalisation and general process of decolonisation were finished at 30th of May, the government decided to study what was called 70s Subcultures in the Western World. Spending last years on industralisation and development of society, the state had a reason for watching behaviour of societies in last years.

Following idea of promoting so-called state capitalism model of labour, the government decided to encourage debate about this model of economics.

Debate about military started in July, with officers demanding increasing ratio of army spending in the budget. The government decided to support him for supporting military.

Debate about relation between state and church emerged aswell, leaving government with promoting idea of secular state.

On topic of relation towards foreigners, the antiimigrant attidude engrow, despite Poles being en masse supporting idea of multicultural society.

On another note, elections saw engrowment of populist right tendencies in the country...

... aswell as alliance proposal from Denmark, which was likely accepted by SD government.


Economy wars continued on, and the government was following idea of freedom of trade, aswell as majority of population.

Finally, at 26th of October, election results were ready, aswell as predictable: populist right won elections, taking power after rule of liberals in the country.

New government matched freetrade philosophy of relation towards external trade, state capitalism submodel of mixed economy model of economics, moralistic stance towards relation between church and the state, aswell as close attidude towards immigrants and promilitary stance in terms of army approach.

New political gabinet was opened at 3rd of November 1987.

Following rise of political interest, new society of intellectuals emerged among capitalist people. Seeing it as positive development, new government decided to support it.

At 3rd of January Upper House rearranged, leaving increase of populist representation in it.

Icreasing demand for wealthfare was followed yet again in modern world.


At 28th of May 1988, studies at 70s subcultures were finished. Next goal was modern neoliberalism idea of politics.

At 8th of June 1988 has happened crisis caused by Polish nationalist movenement in Lithuania. Seeing not to harm stable Polish-Lithuanian alliance, the government hardly protested that move, which caused great disappointment among Poles in Poland.

To calm down people, aswell to encourage population growth tending to stabilize, the Sejm passed new bill, proclaiming state-provided childcare for all young Poles.

Global warming problem became known in the world, and the government of Poland had to be aware of it aswell.

While national childcare problem solved tensions in the country, it harmed state budget heavily, leading into another deficit crisis, with 1,2035mld of złotys incomes, 1,6324mld expenditures, 124,6mln of złotys tariff income and 304,3mln of złotys of deficit. It meant serious problem for the budget for next years.

On another note, by 24th of June 1989 Poland's population crossed 50mln.

By 22nd of July 1989 Austria decided to join Polish alliance too.

Willing to expand influence in Europe more, Polish ministry of foreign affairs decided to increase relations between Poland and France.

At 1st of January 1990 Upper House rearranged again, leaving more support for rightwing parties. On another note, studies about Modern Neoliberalism were also finished.
