This has been reported by me and others already. Seems to be related to a voice warning like resources are low which plays before the game finishes loading. starting a new game and then loading seems to set something up correctly so it all them works. Note that I just click on new game button and then back and then load. I actually thought the last patch fixed it but it is just less frequent. You can also go from full screen to windowed and back again and that fixes it to.

However, looking at your crash log it seems slightly different and just exhibiting the same symptoms

Hello,
I've played about just six hours at Surviving Mars and I was starting to understand some mechanics of the game and it was getting interesting!
I'm on Linux Mint 18.3 64 bit and I saved and loaded various times without any problems whatsoever.
AFTER the last update I can create a new game without problems and save it BUT after I try to load it the game crashes and goes back to the desktop.
This behaviour is quite annoying so I hope it will get fixed soon. I noticed I hear a damn voice while loading the save game, so the cause of this bug is probably somewhat related to the bugs others are having.

As an aside can you guys tell me how to produce the nice logs posted by pgwipeout?

I try giving the command /GamePath/MarsSteam > log.txt

and I got an even more annoying message "You're on Linux Mint 18.3"!!! Don't tell me, I didn't know!!!

UPDATE 1: I tried going Fullscreen / Windowed in various sequences but it had no effect whatsoever on game crashes!

Do you know if this is actually only on linux-version or on windows too?

That's definitely what's going on then, because the last thing you get before the crash is a warning that resources are low.
Probably the string is trying to write to a memory block that isn't flagged as available yet.
The more crash reports they get, the better the patches will be.

Thanks for telling me the location of logs pgwipeout. The error is almost the same as yours and I hear a voice too, just right before the crash. I cannot play the game I bought because of this horrid bug. How did it get through the testing phase anyway?

Have you tried starting a new game, and after the map finished loading load your save file?
That's how I got past this bug, I also now make sure I don't have outstanding notifications before I save my game.
