DLC. But that's just my personal taste, because I don't like the direction Stellaris has taken.

Should i get Stellaris or a DLC for HOI4?

..or neither?

Which DLC for HOI IV?

Stellaris is a great game, however somehow in 2 years time I have clocked 274 hours with it.
On the contrary in a year with CK2 have clocked 400 hours (and bought all the DLCs in span of few weeks), and a month with HOI IV 160 now (just bought it on the 7/4) almost.

That says it all. :/

Lets say Waking the Tiger.

I forgot, but doesnt HOI4 have a season pass for the same price as a base copy of Stellaris? Or was that only a pre-order bonus?

Regardless, HOI4 is fine as it is without DLC, but having the DLC does flesh out the game a lot.

Base game Stellaris is kind of hollow, in my opinion without at least Utopia and Synthetic Dawn.

Do you like predictability in your space 4X? Smashing your doomstack into the choke point grind? If so then Stellaris might be for you. If you find that sort of game less appealing than watching grass grow then it probably isn't and you should likely go with the HoI DLC option.
