The second quarter of 2018 ended yesterday, and that means it is now once again time for a round of the ACAs! All voting will remain centralised to this single thread, following the quarterly rhythm. As always, I encourage that you post about the ACAs in your AARs and your signatures to spread the word and get a high participation.

Voting will start now and end in five weeks (see the date below). All AARs updated between April 1st 2018 and June 30th 2018 (inclusive) are eligible for nominations. You may nominate up to four AARs for each of the following games:

Europa Universalis IV
Crusader Kings II
Victoria II
Hearts of Iron IV
Stellaris

and up to four additional games in the "other" category, which includes all other Paradox Development Studio games not mentioned above. Kindly use the following format:

[Name of game/"other"]
1. AAR name, author, URL
2. AAR name, author, URL
3. AAR name, author, URL
4. AAR name, author, URL

If an URL has already been posted once, there is no need to put it up again.

The deadline for voting is August 5th at 8 PM (+1 GMT).

With that said, it is time for the voting to begin!

- Loup, host of the ACAs

Hooray for another round! Thanks for being so quick to get this next ACA off the ground, @loup99! :)

I will start, as always, with my beloved CK and then try to fill out the rest when time permits... (all AARs listed in alpha order by author)

CKII:

Blut und Schlacht (Blood and Battle): A Learner’s Saga by @Bullfilter
Before Plantagenet – A House d’Anjou AAR by @JabberJock14
Per Angusta ad Augusta: a 1097 Aragon Jimena AAR by @Jokerang
The Red Crown: a sAARdinian Tale by @Prominences

(Honorable mentions must go to @Asantahene's excellent The Wolves of Westseaxna-a tale of Wessex AAR but updates within the last quarter have been fewer than in the past, and of course @Eurasia's Road of Queens - CKII India AAR which will get plenty of votes, I am sure!)

EUIV:

[1.22] Horses for a Kingdom : A Pontic AAR by @fabiolundiense
Balance of Power : Austria 1.25 AAR by @mackwolfe
Entering the First Court: Kanem Bornu by @stnylan
Europa: In the Age of the Fourth Race of Kings by @volksmarschall

(Honorable mention must go to @JerseyGiants88's great work Italian Ambitions: A Florence AAR and I would have voted on it except it only had one update in April within the last quarter.)

Stellaris:

Melanie Bernard (A comprehensive history) by @alex man142
The Stars are Ours by @JohnnyMacintosh
Omnious? The Omni Council Into The Great Unknown by @Nikolai
On Azure Wings - An Apocalypse AAR by @RossN

Victoria II:

Empire of the Mediterranean: An Interactive Hispania AAR by @Michaelangelo
Loyaulte Me Lie - Dual Monarchy IAAR - Divergences of Darkness by @Plank of Wood
L'Empereur est mort: A French AAR by @RossN
Empire for Liberty: America in the Long Nineteenth Century by @volksmarschall

HoI4:

Baltic Lightning: a Grand Campaign AAR [HOI4 Branch] by @Centurial
Long Live the Permament Revolution! - a Trotskyist Soviet AAR. by @ThaHoward

(Note that I may have more here later)

Other:

Civis Romanus Sum (An EU-Rome Vae Victis AAR) by @Bullfilter (Rome)
The Butterfly Effect: A British AAR by @El Pip (HoI2)
“Bitter Fruit” a TFH-AAR by @markkur (HoI3)
Der Adler, der Wolf, und die Sonne: Die Geschichte des Stahlpakts by @Wraith11B (HoI3)

(Honorable mention must go to Talking Turkey: Alternate History from 1936 by @Bullfilter as I only had four slots and I assume this one will get plenty of votes. Plus he got one with his great Rome AAR. :D)

In the "Other" Category:

1) Civis Romanus Sum (An EU:Rome Vae Victis AAR) by @Bullfilter. I have to say that I've never played EU:Rome, and I kinda wonder if Bullfilter made this just to get another shot at the "Other" category! ;) Also, a shout-out to @Ypestis26 for his own EU:Rome game. Honestly, This vote should be for both to share, because there just aren't enough slots for the "Other" to go around, and that's sad.
2) American AAR : AI Experiments In HoI3 by @Eurasia. An interesting take on HoI3: seeing how the US AI could work for conducting the war abroad.
3) Arsenal of Technology: A Hearts of Iron 3 AAR by @nuclearslurpee. Kinda following my previous system of somehow linking the previous AAR with the next one I offer, this is also an American AAR in HoI3, specifically focused on rapidly developing and deploying secret technology as quickly as possible. I also hope that we might get the next update soon!
4) Talking Turkey: Alternate History from 1936 by @Bullfilter. This one just keeps the hits coming, and I hope to continue nominating it!

I'll hope to update this vote with others soon!

Crusader Kings II

* I second "Blut And Schlacht (Blood And Battle): A Learner's Saga" by @Bullfilter

* Whiteshirts of England: A History of the Hvitserk Dynasty of Jorvik AAR by @tpmcinty

Victoria II

* The Hohenzollern Kings of America-A HFM Victoria II AAR by @Baltimorehero33

* Song Long Qi—An isolationist China AAR by @Russiaruler

There are more but for the HoI 3 there are too many to pick from and for the others many of the AARs I like have gone idle on me and I am not sure they count for those this quarter.

Whoo! I got nominated! And by the illustrious @coz1 , even!

As for the CKII nominations, I'd like to throw in my two cents as well:

1. I second Per Angusta ad Augusta: a 1097 Aragon Jimena AAR by @Jokerang . I didn't start reading it until recently, but I really like how it's been developing. I love all the detail he puts into it.
2. I'd like to add A Dragon in Sheep's Clothing - A CK2 AGOT Mod AAR by @Dunaden features a really interesting take on the Game of Thrones world in an unexpected way, and I've enjoyed it quite a bit.
3. And I'd also like to add the Story of the Little Kingdom - Wales AAR by @Janha to the mix. I love the humorous tone of this one.

Edit: 4. How could I forget about The Legacy of Macbeth (The House of Moray) by @Mob_Cleaner ? A great blending of Shakespearean tragedy and historical extrapolation. My apologies for not including it earlier!

Good luck to all the nominees!

Thank you for the shout out @Wraith11B! Always an honor to be included in the same post as Bullfilter.

Honestly, that you two are both doing an EU:Rome play through ought to mean that you should both share the award... that's some dedication! This is similar to @El Pip 's and @AtlanticFriend 's continued HoI2 playthrough.

Psst, Axe, I'm in HoI3! But thank you for the nod!

Sorry - a bit tired this week. I got coal and oil-powered boilers mixed up earlier today

I have seriously cut my reading sadly but here are the votes for those that I am still following:

CK2:

  • The Heavy Crown by @coz1 (the 3rd part of this epic saga remains a magisterial work that keeps us enthralled)
  • Before Plantaganet by @JabberJock14 (vying with @coz1 for best writer on these forums-this work is a real page turner and hasn't suffered at all from the loss of the original protagonist)
  • Blut und Schlact by @Bullfilter (a masterful gameplay AAR that has really gripped both with the narrative and the intricacies of gameplay-hell I've learned a few things about CK2 just by reading haha)
  • Whiteshirts of England by @tpmcinty (I am kind of in and out of this one in truth but beyond the above 3 it's the one that has kept my attention. Again some excellent storytelling here too)

Other (HoI3)

Nearly done with my picks except for a couple of HoI4 choices if I can find them. Great suggestions by all and I hope more will consider trying to fill out a full ballot when they have the chance. Every author will appreciate it, I assure you! :)

I’ve been too incredibly busy with school and work over the last couple rounds of voting, but @loup99 is always a great host and doesn’t get enough credit for the logistical side of hosting this -- so thanks again Loup for your involvement as an integral member of the AARland community!
