Update fixed this for me, and introduced a hard lock in the UI which has killed multiple attempts to play the game. The new events block if you don't have an option based on your background.

Hi guys I'm having the same problem I just bought the game for xbox been playing it for a week no problem then this happens to me loads to the main screen the boots me kinda sucks would love to play lol help please :) ty

I'm currently experiencing the same issue. My game starts normally, but once it reaches the main menu it freezes and then crashes to the home screen. It was working fine last night and I havn't changed anything since then - I have no idea what has happened!

It's on their end. I disconnected from the internet, and the game runs fine. As soon as I reconnect, the game crashes. This was done multiple times after both uninstalling the game and reinstalling, and doing several cold-starts on the Xbox. It's not their servers per-say (since both Stellaris and Cities:Skylines run fine online), more likely the mod server is screwing up the start menu even if you don't have mods installed.

I actually figured out what was going on with my game earlier this afternoon. Turns out that you can install mods through your browser via the Paradox Mod site. If you click the subscribe button on any of the mods it automatically installs to your game. Turned out a few of the mods that I had installed via the browser did not agree with the actual game. So after uninstalling them - unsubscribing from them - via the site my game works normally. I would suggest NOT installing/subscribing from the website and strictly use the mod manager through the game as that will notify you - by freezing and quiting - that the mod you are attempting to install isn't working properly for whatever reason.

Sorry I'm replying so late! I usually only check the forums once or twice a day unless I make a post that I am looking for information from. I just decided to check this before heading off to bed. I'm glad that my little adventure was able to help you fix your issue as well. Hopefully all future issues are just as simple to fix... :: crosses fingers ::
