How absurd. While the US ships did have world class radars...the Yamato had world class optics. In mid range it is more than capable of hitting its target.
I said the Japanese radar wasn't as good, not non existent.
https://sailorsattic.wordpress.com/2018/09/14/fire-control-on-iowa-class-battleships/I said the Japanese radar wasn't as good, not non existent. I doubt staying out of sight range was a viable tactic at the time, since It was almost never done by Battleships of the time period. When the HMS prince of wales caught up to the Bismark they eneded up getting to Point blank range for example.
"In history"? Definitely not. The cold-war-refitted Iowa's would annihilate it, because they were equipped with cruise missiles and advance ship to ship missiles.Would it be a correct statement to say that in a battleship vs battleship engagement, the Yamato's would simply annihilate any other battleship in history with ease?
Dont be such a smartass. Op said BB vs BB. Yamato and Musashi been sunk by aircraft and to be fair it took alot of ordonance to knock them out. Their torpedo belts been amazing and they ate alot of 500 kg bombs. What cracked them been near misses by bombs which ruptured their underwater torpedo belt and armor.if it were invincible, it wouldn't have been sunk.
Doubtfull, never bring a battleship to a swordfight like they say.But could it's armour hold up against a ship that launched katanas?
A Galleon with a kinetic shield generator and a black hole launcher would anihilate your cruiser. In history is a pretty universal term, there's rail guns now. A cruiser armed with a rail gun would annihilate Yamato.
My ship fires shurikans ... And they are on fire.A Galleon with a kinetic shield generator and a black hole launcher would anihilate your cruiser.

It was actually a Zero Punctuation reference from a pain killer review.Go home, Eldrad, you are drunk.
1000 Zeros would have been even more useless than the Yamatos. Not to mention lack of avitation fuel, pilots and different materials used. There is a reason Yamamoto is quoted as saying that Japan would have been better off taking the money and resources poured into Yamato and building 1,000 Zeros.

As to whethe it would destroy contemporary battleships, it's hard to say.
