does anyone have some vidoes(footage) about it?? or know the some websites that I can download from it.
I'm looking for the part when the japanese carrier explodes.

thanks in advance

I'm will make a presentation about ww2 and battle of midway is part of it. I want to show how the div bomber with only MG fire were able to blow up the whole carriers in 5 min's, part of explaining the mistakes the Japanese did and the way the div bomber sqd lost it's way to the target and was lucky to be so.

Thanks alot for the site

I can't see the part where the US planes fire on the carriers :( ....is there any other websites you know, thanks.

No cant find any clips from that particular action in any video that i have found.

You could use photos to show the dive bombers action, and paste the photos in between of some of the videoclips.

Are you using a beamer for the presentation?

ok good luck

-emm...well thanks for the help...I wanted the video to explain to the other students( they are WW2 dumps ;) ) how things happened and very fast.

-I'll be using the power point but when I show this I can use any media player at full screen.

I never heard of dive bombers use machine guns to attack carriers during the battle of Midway. They attacked four carriers with bombs from diving attacks. Where did you hear about this?

I always thought it's suicide to strafe carrier decks while flying low and have dozens of AAs all around fire at you.

I believe I know what video clip your refering to, and I really do not think those are MGs being fired, more like 20mm+. I know American aircraft did not usually carry cannons, but I dont see how even 8 mounted MGs can do the damage your speaking of. It has to be cannons.

sorry I always make the same mistake and refere to the 20mm guns as MG..
you can say I meant a 20mm MG

btw come to think about it couldn't even MG fire do the damage maybe? since the carriers were fill with petrol on the surface?

Everything was laying around on the Jap-flightdecks. Petrol, oil, ammo. Because they were racing to get a new attackwave ready.

I think they are MG's. I don't think any U.S. carrier aircraft had 20 MM guns on them at this time. The Japanese Carrier in question was in the middle of refueling and arming planes for an attack. A large number of bombs, topedoes and ammunition was on the deck, as well as re-fueling operations taking place. Once this stuff caught, the entire carrier just went off.

You might want to take a look at This! if you can afford it, before you start doing the age old "japs were caught with their pants down on the flightdecks" stuff.

So do you want to clue us in on what really happened?

Check the site, It's all there. I don't own the book yet so it's hard to give a summary, and even if I did it would be hard to summarize it anyway

I just found this AWESOME YouTuber who is making really fantastic breakdowns of various historical battles.

His most recent is a Japanese viewpoint of the battle of Midway (it's just part 1).

He's got a couple of other great ones up there, including Savo Island (which I didn't know anything about) and Pearl Harbor. Hopefully he gets Part 2 up shortly.
