Well i do, contrary to you.
It gives a hint of a new startdate as we see small parts of a new map outside the game rules page, but it does NOT show "a screenshot of the new startdate".
Was also not exactly news at this point, as the linked screenshots were inside this very thread.

If you want to be pedantic then a screenshot of the map is "a screenshot of a new start date" and not "a screen shot showing the new start date."

There are enough people here with enough knowledge that from the screenshots alone we've been able to narrow it down to 936-939 AD and we're inclining towards 936 because important people we want to play as die in 939.

If you go back and read the thread all of this is explained.

That's not pedantic. It's not " a screenshot of the new startdate".
Simple as that.

I know and that's what i said and that's why the statement as such by Trunting was wrong and misleading.

In medical school, students are taught "if you hear hoofbeats, think horses, not zebras."

While it is THEORETICALLY possible that Snow Crystal is creating a massive conspiracy of some crazy weirdness, like adding a new scenario engine, or an oddball database update, or any number of possible tinfoil hat answers, the Occam's Razor answer is:

There will be a Coronation of Otto I start date of July 2 936. Almost 100% confirmed.

I know this because people far, far smarter than I am, with attention to detail far, far more intense than mine, who study medieval European history in the way that no sane person does, have identified the exact hair color of the rulers on the preview panel, compared it to exactly who owns which province on the leaked map screens, and have drawn that down to the exact time of day that map could be accurate, because certain provinces were only held until tea-time on July 3rd of 936.

So yes, some of you are being pedantic.

That’s true.

Karlington, however, said it didn’t show “any new start dates”, which is a far different, and arguably false claim than saying the picture doesn’t show us “the” new start date.

Two radically different statements, just by changing “the” to “any”, because “any new start date” means “not an old start date”... All you would need is words like “You are Playing as governor of New Amsterdam”, or “Fatimid” written over Sicily on the map to show a screenshot showing “any new start date”.

Claiming it doesn’t show “any new start date” is clearly false by just one picture showing a starting map that is taken from “none of the old start dates”.

Karlington is incorrect. The picture shows a screenshot of the map of the new start date the person used to take the picture.

It’s still an open question whether this is a new start date we are going to get, and we don’t know precisely what start date his game is beginning from.

(Fatimids ONLY rule Sicily from 909 to 948, when it becomes Kalmid Sicily. Plus Taormina remains independent through the period).

It’s only when you put together the rest of the map changes in the hints they are showing us that we can narrow the guess to a small three year range, and the most important event within range of all the hints is in 936.

I second that. As much as I would love another dlcs this game could use some serious patching and slight rebalancing. Some older DLCs and features could be revisited for sure.

There is so many suggestions that would improve game so much. And of course nobody expects devs to change core mechanics or anything that would require absurd amount of work, but there is plenty simple features that people constantly ask for that would make the game so much better.

Either way smashing bugs and oversights should be top priority right now, that's what I think.

I agree
I had a full game as venetian republic, I can say that bugs reported years and years ago are there.

It cooooould be before the coronation of Otto I, given the coronation mechanics for Catholics.
Personally I am hoping for 935 or a tad earlier, so we don't miss the Zoroastrian Ziyarids in Persia.

Which would be perfect for a DLC working on religions in the region! [Zoroastrians, Judaism, Islam, non-Catholic Christians...]

Did I see something interesting? Hm, I'd say so. One of the things mentioned in this thread is actually something I've been working on in my spare-time for a while. As for suggestions, I wouldn't really start talking about those publicly, as I've a feeling people would get the wrong impression.

"something I've been working on" = 937 (or 936) start date

"in my spare-time for a while." = free content?

"the wrong impression" = no (full) dlc

He means the new bloodlines (post #31). You may say I have no proof (only logic, common sense and patience to trace Snow Crystal's comments), but I am still probably correct. He's been quite clear about adding them on the side, although there is a possibility that he's been doing more than one thing on the side.

Sunset Invasion was done in their free time too.

There was a (deleted) post earlier today which clarified the situation. That's why I 've drawn these conclusions in the other post.

We have confirmation of this?
We have “confirmation” of nothing, just teasers so far. It’s fun to speculate, and the hints are exciting for sure.

We are all claiming certainty before the announcement. Some of us will be more or less wrong.

So we’re getting 936 for sure. ;)

Here is my bet for the next expansion as will be revealed tomorrow:

Focus on realm building mechanics/realm maintainance mechanics with special coronations for emperors
