I've noticed that when there is civil war within the iron throne, that when my liege chooses to back the throne, all the lord's who back him, myself included. Become independent. As a test I loaded an earlier save before this latest civil war and chose "The Rebels cause is just" option. I have both the traitor modifier and backed liege modifier for the current Lord Stark, who has sided with the Targaryens and I am still part of The North, rather than being part of the rebel alliance.

Has anyone else come across this?

Ok thanks, I was wondering because it doesn't seem to affect everyone. Some of my fellow vassals who have backed out liege are still grouped under his rule and labelled as The North, whereas I and a few others have became independent allies of Aegon

just to update, I rolled back to 3.1 as i had noticed the court expenses were not functioning properly (8 is too low a limit to possibly be maintained and i think it is 16 in vanilla, also it was bankrupting the NW something awful)

When i did this, the North no longer broke up into several independent realms each supporting their Liege lords support for the Iron Throne, but instead remained intact and we just provided levies rather than being turned into independent allies of the Iron Throne ourselves

Subrealm disintegration could still happen. It is always fun to see the rats (Reach lords) rush to abandon the sinking ship (their rebelling lord paramount liege) when the king scores a decisive advantage in the war.
