building my third dome (first one was big want it to be science dome in future second one is normal dome going to be farming dome with water spiral third one is normal dome)
trouble is I am no longer able to find applicants to work for my domes. researched tier 1 tech to get more applicants too . Got around 90 colonists and I can only hire scientists(wich I will after buying electronics)
is there anything I can do to get more specialist applicants? or do I have to hire idiots and lazies? :D
I know univercity is helpful but I didnt research it yet and need to get more electronics too(sadly at very start of game prices incrased by %100 )

There's a tech to increase the number of applicants you get but no. Not really. The pool of applicants will gradually keep filling and only goes down if you have colonists die non-natural deaths.

China is able to buy applicants. At your point you start needing to worry about training and growing your own colonists. It's where births and those training buildings come in handy.

Applicants are a significant midgame bottleneck that are resolved in three primary ways:

1) Accept suboptimal applicants, recognizing that an unspecialized worker is still far better than none at all. The exception are Idiots. Idiots should never be hired.

2) Improve comfort and increase birth rate, so you have a lot of homegrown colonists.

3) Import a lot of tourists, keep them comfortable, and keep their babies to further grow your colony. Every tourist that makes it home from Mars generates more tourists, thus allowing you to potentially have a huge tourist base later (which contribute to your birthrate count)

Note also that a university is a luxury and not really a necessity for homegrown colonists, as noted in point 1.

Are you only using one shift of your electronics factory? Running all 3 shifts can produce enough electronics to be positive balance for a colony of 300+. Only hesitate to open the night shift on outdoor buildings (until you get martianborn upgrade).

Even then, if you have at least about one clinic to each 80-100 colonists, you still rarely get sanity issues without a triple whammy of night shift, outdoors, and a disaster (especially prolonged cold waves).

I stopped that campaign but I had 2 electronics factory with full shifts in the end game because of univercities and casionos :p

You might have had a bit too much then. Unis you only need about 1 per 300ish total population (assuming you've managed birth rates to stabilize). When you first set them up they get backlogged but eventually they catch up. Then they get the kids trickling in as they grow up. I frequently tear down old ones because I made too many during the initial rush.
